Antec TruePower owners - does your PSU do this?

I have the TrueBlue 480 and it made this really annoying clicking sound...it was the fan blades hitting the surrounding housing. I found that if I fastened the wire bundle securely against my case frame bar, then the noise went away. I should have returned it right away, but I didn't have another one and I didn't want to live without my new PC for whatever amount of time it would have taken to get the replacement.

I guess thats a little different than your situation, but has anyone had this or heard of a problem like this before??

I have an Antec 430 truepower and have had no problems with it.

I have a TruePower 430 and twenty TruePower 330's at work, haven't noticed a high-pitched whine on any of them. But I know the kind of noise you mean, because I've heard monitors make it at times, and they don't have any moving parts at all. I'd RMA it if it's bothering you, Antec will probably take that in stride with no hassles.

Cool. Now, how do I do an RMA? and about that sound..it kept reminding me of something, but I couldn't figure out what. Now I think I know though,especially after your comment about the monitors. It the same (or similar) kind of sound that high-power lines or something of that nature make.

mechBgon - I just found that page . Downloaded the RMA request form and read through the procedures. Doesn't look too dificult, except that they require a proof of purchase...and I doubt I have the reciept any more. I ordered it from Newegg right after christmas.

Newegg should have your order history saved online still. Click here to log into Newegg. It should then bring up a list of your invoices that you can print. Pack it in the box with the Truepower with the RMA form.

Have you tried blowing out the dust accumulations on the fan blades? Sometimes it is as simple as that.

Excellent suggestion. I do this everytime I open up a case. It helps.

Trupower 430 here. Not a peep. I have my two exhaust fans attached to the regulated outputs. They spin very slowly and move very little air...however you can't hear my case from more than a few feet away.

My case temp is 36C, which is a little high, but then again, I'm running a 200FSB, overclocked XP2100 (10.5 x 200 @ 1.700) volts with a big@ss CPU HS. Rock stable. Awesome PS.

My True330 recently started making an annoying creaking noise. Tracked it down to the 92mm internal fan. It's not due to dust, the fan bearings just seem to be failing. The noise goes away and happens every few minutes for 5 to 30 seconds. If I use a plastic stick to stop the fan (by slowing it down touching the hub) then let it go again, it rattles and groans until it's back up to speed.

I really don't want to have to pay shipping to get this thing sent in for an RMA. CompUSA sells them though, and my roommate might be able to do a defective return after buying a new one. I can't handle the guilt when actually standing in the store doing that.

Hey I am guessing no one saw this because I am sure someone knows:

Is the correct orientation of the Antec Tuepower supplies with dual fans with the second fan facing the top of the case or does it face down towards the Cpu?

Facing downwards, it sucks air in from the CPU area for the outer exhaust fan to get rid of. If you have a case that has the backplate shape forcing the inner fan to face upward, then the case doesn't follow the ATX spec correctly and won't allow the proper airflow from a 2-fan PSU. Mostly older and cheaper cases that have this problem. You can look at a picture of a PSU to see whether it will face properly in your case.
