I plan on modding out the 80mm fan and use a panaflo L1A, but does anybody know the noise of the 92mm fan compared to the 80mm fan? The 92mm fan isnt temp controlled right? Its only the 80mm fan...

thx

Is your fan really that loud? I can't even hear mine ::checks:: yeah is almost silent! lol Are you modding this because you want more airflow?

The 80mm sits at about 1800 rpm according to my hardware monitor. It usually starts at 1500rpm or thereabouts. When it starts, its really quiet, but less than 30 seconds later, its already up to 1800rpm where it can be discerned from the other noise producting components.

Mine is very very quiet too. I'm watercooled now and the ps fan never goes over 1410 anymore.

Only thing I hear is pump hum and the occassional disk activity, sweet.

Mine might be runnign at "high" rpm because im pushing a lot of hot air from my overclocked Processor?

Thats all I can think of. I dont think it is defective because it doesnt make wierd noises, its just spinning at that higher rpm thus generating more noise.

I tried creating my own "muffler" via cardboard box, bed foam, and open side facing down, and the noise went down a bit, but my temps skyrocketed...

Maybe you have the temp sensor from the powersupply on a hotspot in the case?

There is a temp sensor? I have one of the older Antec TrueBlue 480's without SATA, and that external 4pin molex. The only thing that i have is that 2 wire rpm monitor that plugs into the mobo...

hmmm I have the newer model, that might explain it. Although even then I'm surprised you can hear it at 1800 rpm... Man my stupid maxtor HD whines over everything... can't upgrade till my uncle pays me back the 290 he owes me. grr....

Sorry I don't know anything about the panaflos. You could consider investing in a fan controller if your that concerned about noise. That way you could get your blue fan down to acceptable temperatures and still get that awesome glow :D

Yeah, I am actually about to purchase the sunbeam fan controller. Any idea as to how i can wire the 80mm fan to it? I know the LED is separate from the fan. ITs not an LED fan, but a clear fan with a blue LED behind it. I have not openned up my PSU, so im not sure if it is a 2pin fan or not.
