Antec SX830... how quiet?

Hi,

I'm considering getting the SX830 since I've read positive things about it and I really like the design, but my question is how quiet are the fans? Would you replace any of the fans for a quieter model, and if so, which? And does the case material actually drown out any noise like from the harddrives? I plan on building an AMD1.2Ghz system, but I want to keep it as quiet as possible.

Any comments appreciated.

That all depends on the fans, with the stock Antec's I found it to be a little noisier than I was wanting so I replaced them with Panaflo L1A's and now the computer can hardly be heard. A little word of warning is that the Antec's don't seal in noise very so if you have a noisy heatsink fan (I think my Golden Orb is unbearably noisy...others think it's quiet, go figure) it will be audible through the case. So even if you have silent L1A's as your case fans you will be able to hear your HSF very distinctly.

My SX1030 with 4 Antec 80mm fans makes about as much noise as a 10 gal fishtank but really moves the air. This does not bother me, but if you are looking for a noiseless solution, EricD's Panaflo idea is the way to go.

I actually have more problems with my stock Taisol fan/heatsink that came with my tbird than with the stock antec fans... i can barely hear the antec fans when compared to the cpu fan.

yes they are quiet.. I hotwired my case before I had anything to put into it.. and didn't even realize the fans were running till I looked at them and saw them spinning.. most of the noise will come from the cpu cooler/other fans..
