I can't believe so many people don't know this case exists/don't have it. It's going for $190 with a 400watt Antec PSU straight from their site. The PSU is advertised for $100 separately so in theory you're only paying $90 for the case. Personally I love mine, here are my thoughts (review @ my site) :). I'd like to hear any comments. Heck, it's 11pm here and I'm trying to start a thread before I head off to bed .....

A little too many external 5 1/4" bays if you ask me, 3 or 4 would be plenty... I don't even think it would fit under my desk hehe

The Antec SX1240 has that stupid horisontal metal plate in the middle of the case which cuts the air flow. That has been critisized in many reviews...

That's the only reason I don't like this case.

And you can get this case for $140, just to some searching.. On Buy.com it's $150, on Provantage.com it's $140.

I have this case and love it, Who gives a crap about the metal divider in the middle it has two 80mm right in back of the cpu which takes care of the lower half and the top has a 92mm plus the Power supply to keep the top half cool. If it didnt have the divider it would bend and twist when transporting it.

I picked mine up at Outpost when they had free shipping, only cost $140.00.

I only have one free 5 1/4 free, two are where my harddrives are mounted with 2 vantec coolers, One is my CDRW, one is my Dvd drive, another is where my Live drive is. And the last one is for future expansion Ie temp monitor ect ect.

The case is great, Temp only rises 1 Degree with side panel off, plenty of fan room without modding (3 80mm in front, 2 80mm in back, one 92mm at top, and the power supply)
Not to mention any drive coolers in the 5 1/4 bays.

Mem, ive also got my eye on a chieftec, and an enermax...and seeing your other threads post...also the Evercools...hehe:)
Only thing is, id want a black version without the door so i guess no black for me...

I know where to find the actual Antec version though, so id possibly end up getting that cause the PSU seems to be quite decent indeed, and it would be less hassle to just get it all in one go.

Mind you, im dreaming at the mo, cause my next upgrade is still some ways off,hehe...but its fun to choose stufs anyway :p

robg1701,yes someone asked about the chieftec do they do a black version without door, the answer was no,you have the choice of beige or black with door,or beige with no door like the Antec SX1240.

Yup, i just dont like the look or the idea of the dorrs, so id rather grab a white non door than plump for the doored one just to get a black one...still, theyll have long enough that perhaps theyll bring out one to suit me by the time im buying :p

Actually the horizontal bar doesn't completely block all airflow (only about 50% since there's still room between the PSU and HSF which is about half the case's interior lenghtwise) and even if it did you still have that 92mm exhaust at the top. Not like you'd really use it though, the two provided fans are really all you need to run even a really high-end system. Mine only gets about 1-2C over room temperature, not bad for only 2 exhaust fans + psu fan. By the way guys, those cases you say are going for cheap, is that with or without the 400watt PSU? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but ANTEC IS A WESTERN DISTRIBUTOR OF CHIEFTEC CASES.

I was uder the impression that Antec, Chieftec, Enermax et all get the cases boughtin, and that they are actually made by Chenming. Anyone else know ??

Also, i think that would be with a PSU since i can get the Chieftec version for jsut over £60, which i would expect to translate to ~$75 since we always tend toget a raw deal price wise...eg ive seen the Antec for about £125 over here(which is roughly in line with the actual MRSP in $ using real exchange rates) whereas you lot are saying you can pick em up for $140.

Well either way it's a sweet deal and I'd actually recommend this case over the Lian Li PC-60. Of course the PC-70 is better, but then again it costs a LOT more.

Maverick2002,it`s without PSU but still good deal,I know lots of guys that prefer to choose their PSU,or use their existing one if it`s a case upgrade, you can see info on chieftec cases from overclock .co.uk .

Yeah i am too usually, but if i take the prices for the Chieftec and just a 350w enermax, it would only be about £10 cheper than buying the Antec (adding a higher spec Enermax would increase the cost well beyond the Antec)...and from the looks of things the PSU in the antec is quite a beast..the previous rev (basically same, but non ATX-12V spec) is rated to 1400 on AMDs site, and apparently has a 245w combined rating...which rather lays the smack down on the Enermax line (even the newest 431w only gives out 220w combined according to Enermax)...plus into the bargain you get 2 case fans, so maybe its a good deal ?

Either one would suit though, and ive mostly conidered the Enermax option, its only recently ive thought otherwise....and like i say i aint buying anyway:(:frown: hehe:p

I have the mid-tower version of this case. The SX830. It has 3 external 5 1/4 bays. This thing is HUGE for a Midtower. Not only is it tall but it is very wide. It is a great case though. I don't think anyone has use for that many 5 1/4 bays on the tower version.

I have the SX1040B and i love it but.......with all the quick connects and stuff what do i have to screw every drive in? a clip on type would be better (like inwinn's) its kinda self defeating.

Mem: You don't think the 400watt Antec is a sweet PSU? That's what I use and I love it way more than my (now sold :)) Enermax.

robg1701: Pardon me for asking, but what's "combined" output all about? I know the difference between the Antec and Enermax, but what does this mean (only a 17 year-old kid here)?
