MAN, that's less than the Antec 400W PS alone! By the way, this case has the infamous Channel Well PS, but I think this is the "real" Channel Well, according to Newegg's pic.
What do you do? Order 2,, sell the ps off 1 on ebay for $70 and then sell the case seperately for $70 and now you still have 1 for about $30 thats what.
Could you change the title? We all know the Cheiftec and the Antec are the same case, but the Antec comes with a bunch of fans that the Cheiftec doesn't have.
Just because its the same case doesn't mean you get all the same stuff. It also does not mean it gets Antec's warranties.
<< Manko:
Why is this the infamous channel well P/S??? I bought this yesterday. Any reason to be concerned??? >>
To manke a long story even longer...
There was another thread for a 420W "Channel Well" power supply that was initially claimed to be an Antec OEM. I never really figured out what the real deal was, but it seems like the "Channel Well" in that deal was a decent power supply, but not exactly the Antec model. I'm still not clear on this, but I think that the "Channel Well" in that deal was a real Channel Well, but made for a different OEM (Turbolink), with a slightly different specs and lower end components. But so far, everyone who has it says this "Turbolink" has been working fine. There were also a lot of different branded OEM power supplies linked in the thread with the same CWT-420ATX model number, but I was never sure if they were all exactly the same thing.
That brings us to the "Real" Channel Well...someone in that thread linked to a review of the "Real" Channel Well, which matches the ratings and picture on Newegg's site. The review (linked below) states that this Channel Well is in fact the same as the Antec, and gives it high marks. The problem was, the specs in the review did not exactly match the specs for the "Turbolink." Again, I think Channel Well makes a bunch of different power supplies, but this one in the Newegg Chieftech case seems to be the "Real" one reviewed below...
So don't worry, I just meant "infamous" in reference to the long thread where we were trying to figure out what we had ordered. Not "infamous" as being a defective PS.
Cheap fans for the Antecs (and the Antec "clones") at mpja.com (2.99 or 2.49 qty. 10+). I got a dozen from them a couple months ago (buy 10 get 2 free). BG Micro had them cheaper last month (was 2.49 or 2.00/fan for 10+ qty., but now 3.19 / 2.75). BTW they are Panaflo L1A's.. good fans, rated 24cfm/21dba.

slavka: you can get the Panasonic Panaflo Axial Fan 80x80x25.5mm for $12, or you can get it for under $3 from bgmicro (plus about $6 shipping per order).
has anyone got this power supply and been able to adjust the power to the individual rails?
dolph thats the same question I want to know-can you adjust the pots for the rails-But i don't think those power supply's have the same low rail voltage problems like some of the enermax have.
The Enermax Thermo Control 80mm fan is another excellent choice for a quiet case fan. Dual ball bearings, a thermal probe, fan screws and a 3-pin-to-4-pin adapter for $6, and it's as quiet as an L1A, maybe quieter.
i've been waiting for a sweet deal on a PSU for my new rig and this is as sweet as it gets! I was about to get a 400W Antec PP403X for about $70 but now i can get this 420W Channel Well AND a case for the same price! I'll probably end up selling the case anyways. 😛 This better be THE REAL Channel Well Tech 420W psu! I have one question though. If the Antec PP412X is a rebadged CWT-420, why is the PP412X 400W as compared to the CWT-420's 420W?
