Antec SX-830 and SX-800

What's the difference between the Antec SX-830 and the SX-800?

The only thing i notice is that on the sx-800 the ps is not included

That most likely is the only difference. Because generally the first 1 or 2 numbers donate the style/type of Antecs case and then the last two tell what size powersupply it is. Like in the 10xx series the 1030 comes with a 300 watt and the 1040 comes with a 400 watt. So a 800 would make sense not having a P/S

If you're too lazy to look do a formal search, just look over the last few days worth of posts. You can't help but see posts on Antec cases. So that I'm not completely unhelpful....

Awesome, but could be better.

It's the best case for the money. Good ventilation and roomy inside. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a removable MB tray. Go with the 400w PS though. 300w is fine, but it's better to have extra watts in the future.

Newegg sells the same case under the Chieftec brand. Link.

The model that comes with the CWT-420 power supply is the one to get. CWT- Channel Well Technology, makes power supplies for several different companies including Anec and Sparkle. From what I've read, this power supply is very similar (or identical) to the 400W Antec units that sell for over $70 by themselves.

Yes, and if you've read the details of the CWT 420 so called hot deal lately, you know they make PS for lots of people with lots of different quality parts. I'm not saying the ones in the chieftecs are lower quality. I don't know either way, but just don't assume since it's the same manufacturer it will be the same quality. This is surely not the case with CWT. Read the posts about people who have gotten Chieftec cases with those PS. I would assume, from the reviews and posts I've read, Antec requires a very high level of quality in the PS that are made for them. That could be the reason for the extra cost. Then again, I paid $119 shipped for the 800 series case with the 400 watt PS included (ps-840) from emscomputing. I'm guessing those who sell the PS for $75 are making a good profit off of them.

James F,

Please check the link provided to see a photo of the power supply provided in the Chieftech case. Link to power supply photo.

Now check the following review: CWT-420 power supply review.

It seems that Channel Well is the power supply manufactuer for at least some of Antec's supplies. It also appears that their is more than one model of the CTW-420 power supply. The good one (similar or same as Antec 400W'er) seems to be model C1133-2 Rev.C

I'm not positive that this is the same but my bet is that it is.

Love to hear more information from those that are more informed than I.

So would I. I have no idea what channel well is making or for whom they are making it. I was only bringing up the possiblity one may not get what is expected like many who got in on the channel well 420 hot deal of recent past. I know of no one to get less than good results from CWT PS, so it may all be a moot point. I wish it were as easy as reading a couple of specs and knowing they are the same or not.
