Antec Super Lanboy Heat Issues

I recently built my first PC but my Antec "Super" Lanboy causes my intel P4 630 CPU with stock cooling to reach 55C idle and 70C when playing FEAR. How can I fix this and if anybody else had an issue similar to mine, please help me. Would a new exhaust case fan help? Thanks.

Welcome to forums, and yes new fans would help. Some great companies to buy from are: Nexus, Cooler Master, and Yate Loon are very good fans that dont need a fan controller to be quiet. Panaflo fan's are very quiet once undervolted(ie. 5v instead of 12v). Best to stick with the ones listed above.

Now theres the fan companies not to trust. ThermalTake usually make loud fans, but list them as very quiet. ADDA fans are usually loud, and are the stock fans for Lian Li. Silenx fans are just re-baged ADDA fans, and are usually way overpriced.

Hope this helps.

I was going to buy a Super LAN Boy but the rebate ended before I could get to CompUSA.

The 120s in that case are 74cfm and that should be enough. The stock HS is not going to
cut it. Read some of the stickied reviews at the top of this page. There are about 10 that
are really desirable. AC Freezer Pro 64, XP-90 or 120, SI-120, Scythe Ninja, etc.
Just depends on what you want. I have a P4 3.4e w/XP-90Cu on it.

potato28, EDIT: My bad. The fans are less than 40cfm 😱

OP, yes you should change out the fans and consider up-rating the CPU's HSF.

Eeeee. I forgot about the sticky!!! Read the sticky, and read the reviews to find your heatsink. (Just clarifying for OP Galvanized.) 😱

Thanks guys for ur prompt responses. Im not sure what u guys mean by "stickies" but i will take it as the CPU HS/F reviews on the top of the page. Right now i think i will see what happens when i get a case fan. If it is effective, then i saved the 40 bucks it would cost to get a CPU HS/F. If not, then i will have no choice but to get one.
BTW potato, i couldn't find any 120mm nexus or nate yoon fans on new egg, but i found one low CFM Coolermaster and one pretty good panaflo. Also i am taking what u said about Thermaltake fans in consideration, but i saw a pretty good 93 CFM fan with blue leds by them. What do u think? Is the noise factor a big enough cause to omit on this one or not? Thanks again for the advice

I replaced the rear fan with a panaflo and it helped my temps quite a bit.

I'm getting 31-34c idle now that i've also replaced the videocard heatsink and processer heatsink, i can't complain. (40-46c load, depending on if i turn up the fans with my controller)

Anyone tried reversing the normal flow of the case so that the rear fan is an intake and the front is an exhaust? My brother tried that and he seems to get excellent temps from all the fresh air blowing right onto the hsf. Might be worth a try.

I think civicmisfit should get a Freezer 7 Pro because he's got an Intel.

I've always wondered if that would work, but i don't really want to keep my harddrives so warm.

The stock dual 120mm fans is fine. I have a P160 (which is almost the same as the LanBoy). My 1200mm fans spin about 900-1000 RPMs. But then I am on a AMD platform. Just change to a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO or Zalman CNPS9500 and you'll be fine. You may also want to add a GPU cooler like the Arctic Cooling NV Silenver to exhaust the GPU heat outside the case.
