I have a kingwin K11 case and love them, but am putting together some systems for some friends and am wondering if anyone has used the Antec Sonata for building an oc system? Does it do a good job of flowing heat?

Also, can anyone articulate a good reason to buy any of the following over the others relating to overclockability?
  • DFI NFII Ultra Infinity
  • DFI NFII Ultra-AL
  • Abit NF7-S
  • Abit AN7

They overclock better, you said so yourself. However out of those people say that the DFI boards can attain higher FSBs. Nonetheless I'm happy with my NF7-S.

The Antec Sonata is an excellent, gorgeous case. And all of the motherboards you listed are good overclockers, except the Abit AN7.

Sonata is a good case but I wouldn't recommend it for ocing. Go with a 3700BQE or AMB or for a little more, the P160. Sonata doesn't have the best fan setup in front and the antec holes in the side let dust in which is annoying. Get the sonata for a quiet system, go P160 or BQE for overclocking.

i use a Sonata and DFI lanparty 400 ultra rev B.

the sonata is a bit tight on space, and the supplied fan is only equal to a nice 80mm. i had to replace it. and yes, the DFIs can take the bartons to much higher levels with FSB, so if you want killer memory performance get really nice ram and a DFI and just set the multipler really low. i have mine running 11 x 218 for now.

I use a Sonata on one of my rigs (P4 2.4 at 3.1ghz) and love it. Cooling is great with a second 120mm fan on the HD cage. I don't care for the holes on the side. I think that they decrease the efficiency of the cooling fans, so I simply put clear tape over them from inside the case. I also don't use the blue high beam lights on the front case, I find them annoyingly bright. But overall, one of the best deals on a case you will find for $90+shipping and includes a True380s PS capable of powering any system within reason.

magratton,
I just put the guts from my Chieftec/Chinming into my new ANTEC 3700-BQE and
couldn't be happier. The old case had 3 80mm fans and sounded like a jet spooling
up. The Antec case has 2 120mm fans that put out much less noise and it is a lower pitch
sound.

The temps are about the same at 41-44C, and I run SETI 24/7.
