Hello
I just bought the Antec Sonata. the 120 mm fan is on the way.
I looked into the insides of he case t see where and how i could place the optional 120 mm fan but could not figure that out.

can you guys tell me if there are any istructions on how to fit the optional 120 mm fan.

also i was wondering about its 380 watt PSU. i recently spoke to a freind of mine who said 380 watts do nto possess too much energy.

i was wondering if i hook up 2 120 fans(already got one) and a couple of heard drives. would that suck the 380 watt PSU dry and cuae the machine to shut down .. ?

LMAO at your friend. That 380W will be just fine unless you're running multiple CPUs or video cards. :p

The fans mount on the rear and front of the case - just below the power supply, and behind the hard drive cage respectively. It's worth it to add them both.

And no, they won't overload the PSU.

What optional 120mm fan? My Sonata came with two 120mm fans (one front intake, one rear exhaust).

And the 380W psu it comes with will be more than enough to run two fans and a couple of hard drives.

If you're looking into the case with the side panel to removed, the fan attaches to the left side of the HD cage. It sucks air acoss the HD's and pushes it towards the back of the case.
As for the PSU, it has plenty of juice. It powers my system with no problems, and I'm confindent it has plenty more power to give.

i am a bit confuised now
can you fix two 120 mm fans to the sonata. i looked at the data sheet of the sonata and it says there can be one in the front of the case and one in the back of the case.

i have got the one in the back of the case(120 mm fan), but i can not find the space for the second 120 mm fan(in the front of the fan).

do i need to detach the front of the case to get access to the "second fan mount"?

Your friend is a moron. I'm running a 120mm fan and four 80mm fans as well as two hard drives, a 9800 pro, two optical drives, and a CPU fan from a 350W PSU. Also have a tv tuner and firewire card, not sure how much those take though.

You'll be fine.

glad i got the P160

the fan goes on a removable carriage infront of the HDD's little caged area...looks a whole lot neater....are u sure its meant to go where youve put it? looks odd to me, and well in my case there are some wires dangling in that area too...could be fun :p:D

Yea, that's the only place it can go.
Not the greatest design IMO, but it works. As you can see in the pic, it does come close to interfering with the power connector for my VC though.

i guess if the 120 mm fan below the PSU blows out air, then the second (optional) fan should blow in air from the hard drive(s).

what do you mean by that it came close to interfering with the power connector?
what is VC?

some where i came across the reference that if i needed to add the second fan, i would need to put the fan in, followed by the drives, in case i had the drives in , i would have to remove them and then i could stick the fan in followed by the drives.

what do you mean by "not the greatest design IMO, but it works"?

i read some place that the molex connectors for the hard drives can potentially be squashed, is that true?
