Antec Sonata case and Asus P4P800-E deluxe board

The outputs/inputs don't lineup at all for the PS2, USB, 1394 etc. for the system board against the case. It appears like I would have to drill out a couple of the holes by hand....

OK what's the deal??? Is there a trick???? (hopefully)

The motherboard should come with a custom I/O panel that fits its jack layout. See, you're not losing your mind after all! Check this page for some insight on what you need to do here.

OK let me try and reword.....You are correct there is a customized panel that came with the board and this is great....*but* what about the hard metal of the case that does not match the system board??? Do I push out the *entire* thick metal plate???

The Sonata uses the spring-edged type of I/O shield, so yeah, push the whole rectangle out of its hole, and be careful not to cut yourself in the process. Then pop the new one in, and you'll be about due for a snack break

Yeah I just built my first computer today with the Sonata (well almost done, we're POSTing, working on SATA recognition right now). I admit it took me a bit to figure out the I/O shield, you do have to push pretty darn hard, and from the outside in.

you guys are too weak
one swift blow with the butt of a screwdriver will knock it right out...
to be honest i don't ever remember bending one doing that (the antec ones are pretty sturdy)
and even if i did who cares i haven't gotten a mobo in a really really long time that didn't come w/ one...
