Hi, this is my first time putting together a computer..
I have an ECS KN1 SLI motherboard, Antec solution series 1650 case

1. The power led connector from the case has three holes, but the PWR pins on the MB only have two.. what is the deal? How do I fix this?

2. The large fan on the rear of the case is connected directly to the PSU.. how can it change speeds if it is directly connected? i guess it will always be on at full blast?

Thanks!

Power LED probably means the led that activates when the computer is on. The PWR pin refers to the ATX power pin (for the switch to turn on the computer).
The fan speed is designated by the load of your PSU. If its high, it'll ramp up, if it's low, it'll ramp down. It all depends on whether you do tasks that draw a lot of power (like play high quality games).

thanks for the reply, but it still doesn't help me with what to do when i have a 3-pin connector and only 2 pins on my MB?

also, you're saying that the fan speed on the PSU will ramp up when under high load, right? what controls my case fan? it is only connected to a 4-pin power supply connector that can't be differentiated from the others. i wouldn't think that this connector changes power at different times?

Yanno,... maybe one of these days case manufacturer's and mobo manufacturer's will get together and come up with a standard and one connector. Seems pretty simple! Till then what I do on the three pin connector is move the wires where I need them in the connector. The wires come out pretty easy, just push the wire in slightly, use a very small screwdriver, sewing needle, or similar object to pry up the plastic retaining arm. Does not take much, just a slight pressure. Pull the wire out, then just push it back in where you need it.

Hey,

About the 3-pin problem, I have the exact case and had the exact same problem. It shouldn't be too hard to fix. I contacted Antec support, they referred me to this page http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/ezusb.html

Basically, you open the clip thing up, and move the wire over so that they're beside each other. Also, if that doesn't or can't work/gets in the way due to the layout of your board, you can contact Antec, and ask for a 3-pin to 2-pin adapter.

Actually, there's an even better page I found recently for your problem.
Look near 3/4 of page, Question: When connecting the power SW.......
