i don't think it will

it would be hard pressed running that system at default speed with 512mb of mem and a GF3
i doubt if it can even run that fully stable
i hear dvd writers pull a lot of juice too
i would recommend atleast 430watts for that kinda system

good luck tho

300 is cutting it close...you can get away with 350 in most cases, but since you need to upgrade anyway I suggest 450+

While he may pushing it hard... 430w is a litte overkill IMHO...

A Antec, Enermax or Sparkle 350W would put out the extra juice and you would be ok..

Hopefully, atx power supplies will be useful for the next couple of years. If they switch again like they did when the pentium 4 came out, then I'm screwed.

I could be wrong but I think ATX supplies came out during the Pentium/Pentium2 days and was just about standard by the P3.

i'm running the current setup:

Athlon xp-m 2600+ @ 2.5ghz
Abit NF7-S
1 gb Corsair ValueRam (2x512)
1 Maxtor 120gb hd
1 Seagate 200gb hd
1 Toshiba 12x dvd
1 Pioneer A05 dvdr
1 ipod (as external hd) through firewire
Radeon 9700pro
SB Audigy2ZS
2 cathodes, 6 panaflo fans

all on a Fortron 300w with 120mm fan (fsp300-60pn)

Antec is a reputable brand, so i'm sure it would work

good luck!

This power supply will work "overtime" meaning it won't last long. Why not to get a better one, say Enlight 420W is cheaper than many performance CPU heatsinks?

Yeah, the Enlight 420W sounds like a great way to go. However, I read Anandtech's Overclocking System Guide for April 2004 and it stated that the power supply is one area where you do not want to scrimp on... especially when overclocking. They recommended that Antec TruePower.

In the end, I'm still praying that my case and power supply will last me well down the road while several cpu/mobo/ram setups come and go.
