I got the case from EMS a week or two ago. (It shipped the first day. They sent several emails keeping me up on how the order was going, and the tracking numbers. I followed it at the UPS site. 7 days to get here, counting the weekend.)
People are wondering about the color.
The sheet metal has a metallic paint job, like automobile colors. Flat sheen. The plastic parts look like the color is all the way through. A medium to dark shade. In dim light it looks more like gray. In bright light it looks bronze-ish because it has a brown shade in it. Bronze bearings that I have seen have a yellow cast to them; this doesn't. Artists would call this a cool color, as opposed to warm. I agree that the ususal off-white fronts of CDROMs, etc, go very well. Black would look cool too.
It has a snap in fan mount for a front fan, and the usual holes for a back fan. 80mm.
The power supply is Antec. The usual Antec temp-variable-speed fan.
Why is it so cheap at one place? This is a pretty new case. At first I couldn't find it in many places. As the supply builds up, it will get cheaper. This is pretty normal for new stuff. As suppliers make new buys in very large quantities, they can get a more favorable price. It looks like this will be Antecs competition to the low cost Enlight.
A lot of people have the wrong idea about some Internet resellers. They are not necessarily an adjunct to a real store front. Some are distributors that contract out a web site for added business. Some are just order takers, who contract someone to setup a web shopping site, and the orders ultimately go to them. They have the items trucked to UPS by someone who gave them a good price on a consignment. They have a special deal with UPS for shipping in quantity. Order takers have no inventory and no warehouse. They shift to the distributors that give them the best deal. A new deal may have a different item number and a different price for what is really the same item (which would be very strange if they had only one Internet name). They make money by selling in large quantity and turning over capital very fast. If the people they buy from don' t deliver, the order-taker has to deal with the end customer, but does not have any product., at least not at the same deal/price, to back him up. Do not EVER back order something on the Internet, unless you know for a fact that the guy always comes through.
