Nice case. screwless mounts for 5 inch bays. Screwless demount latch for HD cage. USB on front. The card screwdown screws are on the outside of the case, giving you a better angle on the screws. 300W power supply. P4 connector. Fan plug to read PS fan speed. Two extra lights for extra HDs, or whatever. Has a thingy on the back that keeps the extra screws where you can find them.

There other arm, EMS Computing wants $72. Newegg wants $84.

Since my dealing with EMS has gone well, and this is really the same place, I guess this wil go well too.

That doesnt really help, since it is black, and at newegg, it is silver.. it would be nice to see how it does look in bronze

ANTEC CHAS ATX12V MID P4 300W P/S 4 5.25 4 3.5 BRO
Units Available: 459
Ground Shipping: $17.95
Sorry, but they don't have 459 in stock. This compnay really spreads the manure. Maybe you'll be the lucky one.
But, if you can get the Ingram Micro part no., you should be able to price match at Staples, using coupons, etc.

Better, but not great, picture of the case......LINK

It's from the Antec site....technically, it's the 3700 model, but I couldn't find the 2600 model on the site.

You were sooo close! The 2600 looks pretty much the same though. ;)

Methinks it's just sprayed metallic bronze instead of flat beige or black.

Finally something that would look good with beige drives and isn't beige itself.

Also lacking fan cooling for hard drives. But a pretty nice case. Probably looks sort of like a metallic gold car. I still like the 8x0 and 10x0 series or same by Chieftec. To the guy looking for a tower case. Look at the Codegen 90xx at Newegg et al. Up to 10-5.25 drive bays or you can share the space with a 3.5" cage. Probably a little flimsy, but I'm used to re-engineerig my cases anyway ;) . Or check out the CG S101 if you need even more.

Good deal, but I'm kinda puzzled why they would charge a different price from EMS if they're supposed to be the same company.

Actually, looking at the drawings on antec's site, there is a big difference between the two cases.

the 3700 has 2 120mm fans
the 2600 has 2 80mm fans

relevant links

2600 Manual
3700 Manual

The 3700 is a larger case.

"Sprayed" bronze would be totally unnecessary. There are three ways that case manufacturers cost-effectively color cases: painting, dying, and anodizing(involves chemical interactions which bond dyes deeper into metal, similar to rust). Methinks this is anodized aluminum or steel(the only reason I can't tell both is that aluminum usually is anodized much more often than steel.)

Pics of SLK2600

The Cary, NC BestBuy has this case for $49.50, but I passed because it looks like it's got the old style "push in just right and pull forward to close it" side panel. I ended up buying the SX835II from EMS on Tuesday after giving up on a "hot deal". It's already at my Raleigh hub and should be at my house on Thursday. No complaints from me on EMS yet. BTW, it set me back $82.

If it were Al wouldn't you expect it to cost a lot more than it does? My guess is that it's Fe rather than Al, and as they say it's Metallic Bronze, my guess is that it's sprayed. The front bezel is, at least, sprayed...I guarantee you it's not metal.

Oh Huesmann, did you mean to say that the forum mods apply a moderate oral vacuum? :Q

FYI, many cases are "powder coated" but I don't think one could obtain a good metallic effect that way. Guessing very similar to auto body paint.

I got the case from EMS a week or two ago. (It shipped the first day. They sent several emails keeping me up on how the order was going, and the tracking numbers. I followed it at the UPS site. 7 days to get here, counting the weekend.)

People are wondering about the color.
The sheet metal has a metallic paint job, like automobile colors. Flat sheen. The plastic parts look like the color is all the way through. A medium to dark shade. In dim light it looks more like gray. In bright light it looks bronze-ish because it has a brown shade in it. Bronze bearings that I have seen have a yellow cast to them; this doesn't. Artists would call this a cool color, as opposed to warm. I agree that the ususal off-white fronts of CDROMs, etc, go very well. Black would look cool too.

It has a snap in fan mount for a front fan, and the usual holes for a back fan. 80mm.

The power supply is Antec. The usual Antec temp-variable-speed fan.

Why is it so cheap at one place? This is a pretty new case. At first I couldn't find it in many places. As the supply builds up, it will get cheaper. This is pretty normal for new stuff. As suppliers make new buys in very large quantities, they can get a more favorable price. It looks like this will be Antecs competition to the low cost Enlight.

A lot of people have the wrong idea about some Internet resellers. They are not necessarily an adjunct to a real store front. Some are distributors that contract out a web site for added business. Some are just order takers, who contract someone to setup a web shopping site, and the orders ultimately go to them. They have the items trucked to UPS by someone who gave them a good price on a consignment. They have a special deal with UPS for shipping in quantity. Order takers have no inventory and no warehouse. They shift to the distributors that give them the best deal. A new deal may have a different item number and a different price for what is really the same item (which would be very strange if they had only one Internet name). They make money by selling in large quantity and turning over capital very fast. If the people they buy from don' t deliver, the order-taker has to deal with the end customer, but does not have any product., at least not at the same deal/price, to back him up. Do not EVER back order something on the Internet, unless you know for a fact that the guy always comes through.

I have used this case (different color) and found it to very good, easy to use & handsome.

The only other thing is price. Seems to me that Newegg has run a $40ish special on this a time or two in the past.

There is no indication that this case comes in a different color on the Antec site. There is an SLK1600 which is light colored. It doesn't have a front door, no screwless mounts, no thingy for extra screws.

This line of Antec cases looks different than most other current Antec cases.

This is actually a pretty good picture of what it looks like, a little darker and browner in real life.
SLK2600AMB

As for the looks, I don't care much about it. It's OK. It's different. Some people like different looking cases. This one looks different. I don't care about the aluminum cases people go gaga over. They are OK. The usual off-white cases look better. I guess the aluminum ones look different, so people like that.

Black floppy drives? I remember when they were usually black, and it was stylish to get white fronts, for which you paid extra.

Why doesn't somebody just make a case that beige drives will look good in w/o being a beige case????

Seems to get the colors you want with all the ports usb/firewire etc...you have to mod it yourself......:(
