Antec Performance Plus 1080AMG problem

I purchased an Antec Performance Plus 1080AMG case from CompUSA in October of 2002. This case includes an Antec TruePower 430 power supply. Unfortunately, the power supply's fans and fan controllers just died on me, and I need to arrange to return of the power supply to Antec for repair/replacement. Even more unfortunate, I no longer have the receipt due to a recent move. I may have it buried somewhere, but so far I've had no luck finding it. Antec refuses to provide an RMA # without a copy of an invoice or receipt from the purchase.

I've contacted CompUSA to see if retrieving a copy of the receipt would be possible, but I'm doubting the possibility. Would someone on this forum who purchased one of these cases or power supplies within the past 3 years be willing to provide a copy of their proof of purchase for free or small fee?

I find it sad that Antec cannot date the power supply via serial # or such, but I'm hoping someone can help out here.

If you purchased the case with a credit card, you might be able to use a credit card bill as a receipt, as long as on the bill it states where you purchased the item from. I've done that in the past with relative success. You just have to 'talk' to them.
 
It was purchased with a debit card so tracking the proof from two years ago with the bank is work of itself. I spoke to Antec's tech support and they are the ones who told me to fax the RMA request form without the invoice, but when I did, it was rejected due to no invoice information.
 
I figured it was worth a shot seeing as the PSU is quite popular. Of course, if I have no luck, I'll get to shopping.
 
If it is only the fans that died, you can replace them yourself with some light modding (depending on the fan connectors that psu uses internally).
 
It's the fans and the fan controllers (PSU controls the speed of case fans depending on temp).

The only option I see is to exchange the PSU, and I have to have a scan/image of a purchase invoice/receipt to do so. Just hoping to find someone kind enough.

If this effort fails, I'll just buy a new PSU, but I'd still like to exchange this PSU since it shouldn't have failed this early.
 
id just buy a new PSU, when you get it in, try RMA'ing the Antec if no luck your computer still works 😱
 
Looks like CompUSA is going to be able to track down a copy of my receipt and send it my way, so I should be all set.

Not that I would do this of course, but if I were so inclined, I would buy a new true430 from any b&m, take the new one and clean up the old one and return it where it was purchased. That way, it will eventually get rmad as it should have been in the first place, and you do not have to wait for or pay for shipping. Win, win. And no, I do not think this is wrong because he IS entitled to an rma, as he is within the guidelines, minus the reciept of course.
 
I didn't even think to do that John. Would have been a possibility if CompUSA didn't track down the receipt information for me. They sent me a copy of the receipt, and I was finally able to get Antec to forward me an RMA number - after quite a bit of bitching at them.

I sold the returned power supply, and I purchased another power supply from another vendor, because I never want to deal with Antec's support/RMA departments again. It was quite frustrating and they kept giving me the run-around.
