Antec P190

Does it include 2 psus? That's crazy, pretty cool case though. I can imagine that it has fairly good airflow.

the psus are not included. Apparently, antect is planning on fusing together a 550W neo and a 650W neo to make a 1200W neo
 
It'll be louder, especially with that side fan that you can't replace with a quieter YL or other fan. And the 2 fans on top don't really float my boat since I don't even use the one in my p180. Also, included antec psu's isn't a good thing either since most people would prefer to put whatever brand they prefer in. Meh.
 
The 200mm fan should actually not make much of a differnce noise wise. I've seen other cases with 25cm side fans and the side fan is by far the quietest fan in the whole setup.
 
From the article "The real surpise of the P190 is the use of included dual power supplies!" Personally, I like the looks of this case but there is no way I would even consider spending $400 on it if it didn't come with the PSU's.

ugh, i completely misread it. sounds like it does come with PSU. Sounda had my morning coffee before reading the article 😀
 
This kinda blows me away.

The P180 was SPCR's over the top silent case..Fine! So lets cut big holes in the samiched
panels to let the noise out...Something is wrong with this pictar.

better cooling targeted at the enthusiant rather than the silent crowd?
 
My latest case has a 250mm fan and its nothing but quiet so I doubt a 200mm fan will be a problem noise wise. I dont get why people keep thinking bigger fans mean more noise? The progression from 60mm to 120mm fans has shown they get bigger and quieter. As far as price goes it had better include the PSU for $400+. Antec has had some problems with some of their PSUs lately. Hopefully the PSUs for this case will be good quality and quiet.
 
Bigger the fan, slower the RPM (where this is the major factor in noise level) and more air ventilation due to its size.

But the problem is is the Antec P190 better than the Antec Nine Hundred?

The problem isn't the fan, its the extra giant hole cut in the side of the case that kind of defeats the purpose of the 3 layer sides. More holes, more places for noise to get out.

Very true but if you get the right components it doesnt have to be loud. There are some very good PSUs that are quiet as well as HSFs and video cards with quiet fans so its not impossible to build a pretty quiet system. Just need to plan it properly is all.

But a case with 2x120 blow holes and 1x200 blow hole doesn't fall into that "right components" category. The purpose of the P180 was to be quiet and cool, I think they've just given up on one of those goals in order to try and make the other one better when it was cool enough to begin with.

given up? why couldnt they simply be targeting a different market of consumers who are more concerned with better cooling that the noise?

If they were purely interested in cooling, they probably wouldn't have based it on the 180. I think they just compromised one goal (noise) to get better cooling. Go big one way or the other.
 
The P180 is still very quiet isn't it? This case is an extension of the P180 aimed at Dual- and Quad-SLI users... hence the room for 2 PSU's (or one monster Antec PSU). Sound is of less concern when you need to cool 4 blazing GPU's. Why base it on the P180? simply because its a very good design for airflow.

If you'd like quieter case with the dual-psu option, theres the brand new Lian Li PC-A10.
 
The p180 is quiet IF you put the right things in it. If they were going for great cooling, noise be damned, there have to be better, bigger cases they can use to rip off the public for $400. The 180 is an ok design for air-flow. I don't know if I'd call it great. If it were great, most people wouldn't be taping off vents/fan holes. Don't get me wrong, I really like my p180. I just think if they were going for a completely cool case, they had better options to build it on. As for a new case based on the 180, I'd like to see it bigger, full tower size. Especially front to back size increased.
 
how hard is it to design a good case for airflow anyway? I feel like alot of cases these days are too complicated.
