Antec P183

I've been considering this case for a while now to replace my Antec PlusView 1000AMG. The reason I want to get it is to quiet down my system - specifically the Raptor X 150GB I have in there since it's the loudest thing in the system. I've read reviews saying that the P183 is pretty quiet. Anyone know how much quieter it might be than the Antec 1000AMG? I want to make sure it's going to make enough difference to warrant the $140 I'll be dropping on it.

They're significantly quieter, but they still aren't silent. I had to swap out the stock fans (Antec Tri-Cools, which didn't move enough air at low and were too noisy at medium and high) for Yate Loons (low) and Scythe S-Flex's (E). When I had my Raptor X in there, I could still hear it doing reads and writes, though.

If you want a REALLY quiet system, especially since your Raptor is the loudest component, consider spending the $140 or so on an SSD for your boot drive. They're fast, they run cool, and best of all they're silent. Still, the P182 / P183 isn't a bad way to go, but plan on either having anemic air flow or swapping out the stock fans.

Hmm having to get additional fans and a solid state drive is going to drive the price to quiet my system down a bit higher than I first thought. Maybe I'll just wait a year or few until I do a complete system upgrade. Thanks for the info.
