Antec P180 & P180B $79.99 AR @ Frys.com

Rgr, unless it's an SPCR specific P180 which only came in black, it's definately a second revision. This applies ONLY to the black model which came out WITH the new revision.

The silver edition's a coin toss. This late in the game, however, it would seem like it was a Rev 1.1. But as someone pointed out, Best Buy went out of stock, and came back with Rev 1.0 with their 'new stock.' So it was either that BB never actually went out of stock, or Antec sent them more Rev 1.0's, which would seem very unlikely to me.

The black edition seems to be Rev 1.1 either way, unless it has the SPCR logo on it.

Is this correct?

That's correct. Also it's important to add that the SPCR case isn't available to just anyone. Only specific retailers that brand it as the Antec/SPCR P180. So if anyone is afraid of getting a first rev black case don't be.

Holy friggin fast delivery batman! Ordered on Friday, just picked it up off my doorstep 5 minutes ago. Not bad for free DHL Ground shipping!

I need a new case and that black is calling my name.

I also believe that is the first time I have had something quoted in a sig. 😀

So, if you ordered a black P180B, can you confirm it is a v1.1 case (no VGA duct, front door of the same material as the sides)?

fwiw, I stopped at Fry's in Portland yesterday. The silver display model was a v1.0 while the black was a v1.1. But they were not on sale, so I passed.

I would believe so. If this black thing in the middle of the case with the spare drive rails is the duct, then it is 1.1. This thing isn't in the case, and the front panel is constructed similarly to the side panels.

Please keep in mind I ordered a P180B (black)... I believe it was established that the B was likely to not be a 1.0-style. I can't vouch for the P180's (silver).

The "black thing" is the VGA duct, which is a 1.0 feature, removed in 1.1 I believe. Please see if the front door is as thick as the side panels, or is it somewhat thinner? Also, is the fan in the bottom section the same thickness as the other fans (v1.1) or is it thicker (v1.0)?

Another way to tell is to look at the covers on the back panel for the card slots. In the 1.1 version, those covers are vented. In 1.0, they are solid as shown in the picture you referenced.

See v1.1 on SPCR for a description and photos of the 1.1 version.

WARNING!!!!!!

My friends and I have had a few of these cases (black and silver) and they are poorly made (very surprising from Antec). The side panels are extremely bad. Everyone I know that has this case is having trouble with the side panels. For some reason the tabs that help lock it into place break off very easily. The doors in general are hard to get off smoothly. I have a P180 sitting next to me right now, completely empty with no plans to use it (maybe a monitor riser?). I use the Antec Nine Hundred at home and a Super LanBoy at work. Stick with those two, as i have not had any problems!

How could so many other people be wrong? I thought everyone loved this case? I may have to sell it before I even open it, if it is that bad.... 🙁

Me too my friend! I'm in for a P180B even though I'll probally wait another month or two to get a mobo/cpu. I figure yes the P182 MIGHT be nicer with a better door, cable management and mobo tray, but I will take the door off (hopefully), not use the bottom fan/cut a few holes, and I don't think a mobo tray would make the case any more sturdy! Also it will be black black and not "gun metal" and will cost me 87.50 AR and who know when/how much the P182 will cost..

BAMAVOO you must have run into the first version doors!

Had a friend order a P180B off of this. Such a great deal. It came really quick, got it 2 days ago and he loves it. Great case and what a awesome sale price.

I highly doubt a case that has so many great reviews at newegg is bad like you say. Just ordered one up and hoping the v1.1 black has all the problems fixed from the original. Really the only reason I went with the black one was of it more likely being the 1.1 model. This case is going to go good with my new e6600 cpu.

Yes im not sure why he has such a problem. However, if you contact ANTEC they will send you replacements free of charge. You happened to get the older version somehow. And judging from your most, i am assuming you didnt buy it from this sale thatwe all did, because noone has had problems like you. Anyways, i would contact ANTEC if i were you. Because it truly is a great case if you get the newer version, and if not they send replacements so you cant go wrong.

Interesting ... I felt the P180B was a little nicer quality then the Nine Hundred due to silence quality and the air filters.

While they aren't perfect cases, they are still much nicer then the cases that were around $75 4-5 years ago.

For under $100 i think that the Antec P180 (1.1) and Nine Hundred are both great values. Especially if you feel the included large Antec Tri-cool fans are good enough and don't need to be swapped out for a nexus or panaflow. (I like to add at least one more Tri-cool fan so all the intakes are full and set them all to low.)

If you really want "better" but like the P180 setup ... Checkout the Lian-Li PC-A10A and PC-A10B.

Yup... the P180B I received is definitely a 1.1. Looks just like that link.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal, I just grabbed one. I'm from Florida so I'm only spending $79.99 so I'm stoked... my co-worker just grabbed one too.
