Antec or Raidmax

I'm building an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ for someone, and I'm gonna be staying on the stock heatsink for now. But I got to wondering...my initial thought for the case was this Antec:

http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=11-129-120&depa=1

But then I saw this Raidmax for $45 ($75 at the local Fry's)....

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=11-156-135&depa=0

Would be there substantially different temperatures in the cooling between the two? Is the Antec really worth (not taking into account the power supply; just the case) the extra $50?

Please advise. I'd like to order from Newegg today 🙂

BTW, I own an Antec at home, so I know they're good cases. But I'm just wondering for the price if it makes that big of a difference

3 weeks ago i bought a Raidmax Cobra [http://raidmax.com/products/pr...7&cID=1&pID=43] with a 420 watt power supply. This case has an AWESOME paint job/finish on it. it's as close to an automtive job as i have ever seen on a case. it comes with 2 80mm fans, 1 80mm window fan and has room for 6 more! the power supply even has a beefy 80mm fan on it as well! so far, this is the best case i have ever bought🙂

Thanks,

Of course, that is only 550W "on the label". I bought a Powmax box with a 450 ("labelled") PSU. That label isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I had a PS/2 era, pre-ATX PSU to compare, rated 180 watts, it is better made, heavier, etc., held next to that "450", so I will RE-label it as 150 W and stick it on a shelf unless/until I need something that puny!

i have 4 80mm fans in front one 80mm cold cathode fan in back and a 80mm fan in the side windows. system temp never gets above 32C.

I say Antec. The home/business systems I build are in Antec houses. I love them. Easy to work with and a lot of their cases come with power supplies.

If cosmetics are a concern and you want a flashy glossy paint job the Sonata's "piano black" finish is beautiful. Otherwise have smooth creations paint it for you!!!!

The Raidmax should be good enough, just don't be surprised if it doesnt perform like a quality case and power supply. My uncle bought that Raidmax case on sale at Frys, and its heavy. Nice and solid, and the PSU seemed to work. I personally think its ugly, but its worth the $50 when combined with that PSU. Just consider that your case and PSU will probably outlast the other components in the system, so you should pick something solid.

For the money, you can't beat antec. That price at newegg sux. That's a $50 case, I just bought nearly the same thing at mwave for half the money.
Antec Lanboy is an awesome case, it's super light, and it's aluminum (which helps a great amount in cooling).
Take a look at them, I think you'll like em.

Yeah, the Super Lan boys are are nice. I have two of them. I love those two whisper quiet 120MM fans, although I did have to disable the LEDs. But, they are about $80 without PS.

I have the last generation Lanboy, not the super lanboy. It was right around 99 bucks with the PSU, and I think it came with a couple blue led antec 80 mm fans. I love it. If I could get my hands on more, they're all I'd ever use.
My buddy just built a p4 system (3 grand screamer for video editing) and used the super lanboy. I haven't seen it in person yet, so I'm not sure how it looks. He's wire management retarded, and the pics he sent looked like some kinda wire alien landed 🙂

Super Lanboy

Thats pretty much how it looks in person. Its fairly quiet, although I think its a little flimsy, but it is all aluminum. I couldnt stand the blue LEDs though, so I snipped them. The only thing its missing is a firewire port in the front.
