Antec NSK2400 or AOpen H420?

Hello,

I need advice and can't find any specific post about either of these cases. I'm thinking of rebuilding my PC into smaller (and mainly quieter) enclosure, currently have Antec SX1030 with P4T533-C, but I already bought small mATX (Intel D850EMD2L), so I'll just swap my few components.

I searched all the web extensively and can't make my mind; there are 1-2 detailed reviews of H420 but no good review of NSK2400 (only one and dated). I need quiet case, well built. Both these cases look good, the AOpen H420 is smaller while Antec NSK2400 appears to be better cooled, roomier inside and possibly quieter...also Antec's PS is 380W (full size I think) compared to 300W proprietary mATX PS of AOpen. I don't plan to mount too many components, only one HDD (2 at the most) and one optical drive; plus full-height AGP video card; my CPU fan is smaller copper Coolermaster and should fit either case fine.

Pricewise they'll come to nearly the same (I'll buy at newegg). I have no chance to see these cases except from the images on the web, and I wonder how they compare - if about the same, I'd probably get the smaller Aopen case, but I somehow feel that Antec may be a better choice - I never had Aopen case but had several Antecs and they were all good.

Thanks
Dave

I like them both,
Im a colelge student so im always moving my rig around with me,
so i totally want a shorty case myself.
I have a black KB and mouse and LCD, so I am very partial to the black AOpen.
Though i hear good things about Antec and their power supplies.
its 20$ less for that AOpen, I personally like the AOpen over the Antec.

Hello JoHo,

thanks for info - I already ordered black 17" Samsung LCD week ago, and planning to get black keyboard as well since beside the small footprint I want to have the new thing to look good and sharp. The H420 is cheaper but newegg charges a few $ more for shipping it, plus I need to order 24-20 pin PS adapter cable ($10 shipped, but I don't want to physically cut the 24-pin connector) to accommodate my motherboard - the image at newegg shows 24-pin connector and I have 20-pin motherboard. When I add that to the price, the difference between Antec and AOpen is negligible.

I'll give it on more day before placing the order - well at least I now know that there are users out there who possibly like the AOpen case over Antec. I assume you've seen the Antec somewhere, right?

Thanks!
Dave

Check out the Enermax Venus series and nMedia (a div of Enermax) cases as well. AOpen cases are well made and the bundled PSUs are usually relabeled Fortron.

I looked up the Venus as well as nMedia, but so far the AOpen case looks about the best - it is also both vertical and horizontal. I'll most likely go with that AOpen, but still will think it out few days... thanks for suggestions!
