I am planning a new rig in the coming months and am torn between two PSU deals

Antec NeoHE 550W $46.59 AR
Corsair HX520W $78.25 AR

System Spec.
CPU: Intel Q9450 (overclocked) with tuniq tower
MOBO: P35 (likely MSI Neo2-FR orAbit IP35-E)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB)
VIDEO: HD3870X2 or HD3870 xfire
HARD DRIVE: 2 x 640GB Samsung F1
CASE: Antec P182
Others: Two Optical drives and Soyo 24"

so which is the better deal?

I was told to stay away from the NeoHE but for the price...its still very hard to resist..40 AR for it..

My rig will be similar to yours.

Using a Abit-P35-E that is 66 AR

and the PSU for 46 AR is almos impossible to resist...although I've heard of some issues with it..

520hx for sure. NeoHE has given to many people trouble in the past. And you can still get a cooler master real power 750w pro for 50$ AR. Check the hot deals forum for it. Prolly the best deal out of those 3, but it ain't modular.

There is more difference than you may think. The NeoHE is an older design, plus isn't single rail (IIRC). They are both good but I'd prefer the Corsair myself.

HD3870X2 How much power is that going to draw as the 9800X2 will need min 580 watts and I think the 3870,s run around the same as a 8800gts so 650 watts min.if not more (720 watts)? your system will cost you a lot of money , to depend on a $46.59 power supply, could be a oversight . to feed it with clean , stable power,( my 4 cents )

What?

1) He's (she?) getting a corsair... Almost the best unit out there.
2) Where did you pull those numbers? That system might strain the PSU a bit, but the Corsair should be able to handle it.

Never ever assume that because an OEM is the same that there is very little difference in 2 different brand names!

I'd like to know what you're basing this on. A system with an 8800GT and a Core2Duo pulls something like 200-250W from the wall at max load.
