Antec NEO HE 550w Modular Power Supply PSU - $69.99

I just had to RMA mine from the same deal they had 2 months ago. Would cause system to shutdown randomly and be very unstable.
 
damn... $49.99 is HOT

I picked mine up a couple of months back for $69.99... been working like a charm. I've notice the fan has gotten a little noisier though, but for $49.99, I'd definitely buy it over again.
 
Just bought one a couple weeks ago but still unopened while waiting last of the parts to put it all together. For another $30 off, sending this one back is real tempting.

failure rates are gone? but the series still deprecate in value

Because antec sold them for cheap to get rid of failure rated stock...

I have one. It doesn't work with certain socket 939 boards.

It is a rebadged Seasonic, but it's built according to Antec specs and pricing.
 
Certain early revisions were not compatable with the Asus A8N series of NF4 boards. I am running this PSU in my rig right now and it is rock solid. It is SLI certified for anything below the 8800 series.

From what we understand, the issue has been largely addressed with a later revision PSU (A3 and above). Any NeoHE bought today will likely be one of those newere revisions, but it all depends on a particular vendor's stock and it's definitely worth double checking. SilentPCReview elaborates a little more, saying:

"We were informed by Antec that not all the PSUs are marked with a revision number, but you can figure out the date of the ex-factory from the serial number. ONe of our A3s has this number: S05110081185. The 0511 means it was shipped from the factory in 2005, November. So any NeoHE whose serial number starts with S0511, S0512, or S06 should be perfectly compatible with Asus boards."

thanks for the info mucker. i have an asus P5W DH mobo, but the price is too good to pass up. yea, i'v heard problems with the P5W DH too. Hope I'll receive a newer version. but if not, antec's cs is excellent. i dont think i will have problem exchanging for a newer version from them.
 
I purchased one of these a couple months ago when it was $70 w/free shipping. I received a revision 4 power supply. From my brief research - by Rev 3, Antec had fixed the issue on booting system with low amp draw. Tempting to get another at this price point.
