Antec LifeStyle SONATA II $50 after MIR

On of the better deals for this case. Most all agree this is a very good case.. many know this PSU is a POS... still a good deal none the less. This may be one of the last months for this deal since the Sonata III is also avaliable (note: the Sonata III has a different power supply 🙂 )

I have the case, it is a great case. The PSU is a POS however, after my second went bad I just bought a Thermaltake.

I believe you guys, but I thought Antec was a fairly trusted name when it came to PSUs?

Antec's SmartPower Series has a very poor history.

Don't believe everything that you read. Antec is a trusted name and they have a kickass warranty. I've used close to a hundred Sonata II cases with the stock 450w SP 2.0 psu in X2 & C2D builds over the last 2 years, and ttbomk none of my customers have had failures. I'm not denying that some people have had problems, but as you know there is always a % of failures in any given product.

Same experience here - built at least 40 systems using the new SmartPower 2 PSUs and haven't had a single one go bad in the last 1.5 years. Of course I run every system I build on a UPS and make sure it gets decent internal cooling, but if you're not doing that then PSU failures aren't a concern for you 😛

My main rig and gaming rig are both running SP2 500's (modular) in P180s and I love the dual 80's that shoot air in straight line through the lower chamber 🙂

I posted a new thread for this deal, which was locked as a repost, but honest, I searched for it (and we all know how well the search engine works), which found nothing. I found this thread only after mine was locked, and it was several pages down the forums. 😛

This is a repeat of a GREAT deal on a GREAT case and PSU with new dates for the rebate so here's a bump to put it on top where it belongs. 😎

is it possivle to add a front 120mm fan on this case? are there holes/gaps in the case for air to enter in the front?

yes, there are holes in the front for air entry; however, the optional front fan is mounted just aft of the hard drives, and is not as effective, in my opinion. That being said, unless you have a high-powered system, the rear fan alone should be adequate.
