fixed that sx it is KS

SOLD OUT!!

I had this case before I gave it to my dad. It's a decent basic case for a good price. My Iwill KK266 motherboard was actually a bit too big for it and blocked the lowest 5.25" drive bay. I did manage to cut myself occasionally on it as well.

This is a decent case. Thanks for the deal. I'm gonna get me a couple of them to build some cheap Athlon 900Mhz.

the power supply in it is good enough for almost all athlons. good powersupply, i used to have one on my antec desktop case

good case, used one before, bought it for $59 in a pinch. Well worth $29... well $39 with shippping.

maybe a PM is in order, as I know the store carries it, or they did 2 months ago.

Compusa will PM their own website right?

If not BestBuy carries this guy too.

What are all the major differences between the Antec KS282 w/ 300w ps and this KS388?

I'm thinking about building an AMD Duron/TBird rig with 512MB RAM, 40GB HD, AGP graphics card, DVD, CD-RW, NIC and floppy.

Which would meet my needs just fine? I will NOT be super cooling my rig with 100 fans nor modding it and no overclocking it.

I run the 300W case, i like it. Like you i dont have a millions fans going, i just overclocked from 800 to 900.

I built a 900MHz duron for a buddy too, using the case mentioned here. It is a little shorter than my case, and doesnt have the removable HD bracket. I got my 300W from Onvia (back when they were THE place to buy stuff, for $60). Frys sometimes has the 300W case for $69.

Compusa site says ks388, but it looks like the ks382 to me.... must be almost the same thing

compare

well it's 250, and the more stuff you run you may want 300W

let me check AMD....

EDIT:
click here for AMD list it says use a 300W

Fact is 250W will work, but why take the chance with all that stuff you want to run. With the cost of shipping a case it's almost always best to buy local anyway. Some people spend $200 on a case and swear by them, others (me) spend $70 and are happy, and others spend $30 and are content. Which are you?!

I'm like you, I want a good dependable case but don't want to pay up to wazoo for it. I don't need a really fancy super cooled case, a simple KS282 for $70 suits me just fine.

What's so good about Antec cases? People always talk about them but I have no clue why they're better? Can someone please explain it to me? Thanks.🙂

One big difference ... try standing on top of your case and if it collapes and smashes everything .. it was not a good case. Its now time to buy an Antec case (along w/ some other damaged components)!!! My friend bought a 1030 on my recommendation. He builds PC's for a living and had never worked with a better case. It had several fans already installed, in all the correct places you would want a fan. It is also extremely sturdy and withstood the above mentioned stress test with ease. It also will never cut off a finger like a cheap $30 case will. I usta buy cheap til I cut two fingers trying to pop out cards and found a red liquid from my own internal case, typically called skin, dripping on the motherboard :| Quality is quality .. you get what you pay for 😉

I tend to look for how the case fits together, and if its easy to get in and out of. I have an sx830 case, and I love it. Much better then wrestling with a cheap case that you are afraid to open cause parts will break off of it. Cooling is another big issue, make sure the design is good for cooling.

Why do you want to stand on your case? I don't stand on my printer, my DVD, my TV so why should I stand on my computer?

Hmm, didn't know Antec has a SX388. I know they have a KS388 which is pretty decent mini tower case. My very first 64-CPU cluster consists of 32 KS-288 boxes, which are the Mid tower version.

[yawn] Some people just don't get it. I think you're missing the point, anandfan. [/yawn] Go ahead and get your POS $29.99 case. We could care less.

thanks z0ner .. I was thinking the same thing ... 🙂

My point was, you don't stand on the hood of your car either, but would you prefer to buy something that was easily crumpled by 200 pounds or would you prefer to buy a car that supported the weight ?! Its common sense .. a solidly constructed case is just capable of more extremes just because IT IS !!

Excuse a stupid question but could I put an old 486 AT board in this case? Know the back cutouts are different but some work. (Mounting holes and so on)

Have a super running 586 setup for the web and want to give it to a relative but not in a case right now.

Thanks
