I have an older quad core socket 775 PC which had a CPU fan that died back in December before Christmas. This is a media box so doesn't really have to work too hard so I keep it around and thought it worth fixing.

I purchased an Antec:thumbsdown: Kuhler H20 620 which was advertised on the box to support socket 775 and states that it includes all the proper mounting hardware. I was surprised to find out that when opened the 775 mounting bracket was missing. After some research online (because Google knows all) I discovered that people were having the same issue, contacted Antec:thumbsdown: support to get the bracket shipped.

I had contacted Antec:thumbsdown: support, and they said that there is a new version of the product supporting LGA2011 (which is fine) however the old packaging was used slapping a sticker over the box in the front lower right corner stating now supporting LGA2011. Antec:thumbsdown: calls this a "Spare Parts Request" and that it would take days to prepare for shipping and 2 weeks to ship via US Postal Service Ground to Canada. I had asked for shipping via a courier as it would come quicker and be tracked, besides I needed it to come sooner and this was a problem with their packaging and no fault of mine.

I was then treated extremely rudely by Patrick Solamo (Antec:thumbsdown: Tech Support) stating that this is by no way possible Antecs:thumbsdown: problem as another company "Asetek" for incorrectly designing the units. "First of all, Asetek was the one who designed these units for Antec and they had a misprint on the box where it says support LGA 775.". I of course was not falling for this as Antec:thumbsdown: is ultimately responsible for ensuring that their product QA is performed and ultimately their name is on the box for their product so they should be ultimately responsible!

I wasn't getting anywhere and in interest in getting this "spare parts request" rolling I provided my shipping details and asked them to send it. I get an email almost a week later stating on Wednesday December26th that they hope it should ship out on December 28th but it obviously sounds to me like they don't even know if or when it shipped. "It will be shipped out hopefully by the end of this week and will take around 2 weeks to get to you. There is no tracking since it is being shipped international from USA.". They then closed my support ticket.

Earlier this week I contacted them to find out why it has been 3 weeks and I've not received anything. Patrick Solamo:mad: picks up this ticket and proceeds to tell me to stop blaming Antec:thumbsdown: for the fact that I don't have the bracket and that its their fault for the packaging. He then tells me he has proof it was mailed yet doesn't say when and that I should buy one for $10 USB plus $8USD shipping to get what I should have received in the box initially!

I've never been treated this poorly by customer service EVER! I know this is a brutally long rant and a long way to go to get to my point but anyone still with me here I hope that the next time you decide to go purchase hardware that you think twice about Antec:thumbsdown:. I've used them for years without too many issues but if something really goes wrong (and this is a BIG OOOPS on their part) they really don't have your back in these cases leaving us the consumers in the cold and without help.

I would have expected more from them and I am disappointed in what I thought was a decent company.

rant ........ /rant

If they advertise the product as compatible with Socket 775, and don't include the necessary mounting hardware in the box, and this is widespread, then perhaps a class action for false advertising would shake them up.

I remember HP's pocketPCs, that weren't actually truly 16-bit or 24-bit color (they used dithering), and they got hit by a class action for false advertising.

While antec did mess up on this, it's not surprising that they took so long to ship during the holidays as most companies shut down during that time. That, and they really do need to get the parts from asetek before shipping to you, who is technically international(requires passing through customs). I would say just wait a little longer and you will get the part.
