Anandtech did a review of the 430 watt model. JonnyGuru's review was much more favorable (and he actually reviewed the model being offered in this thread). I have the 430 watter in my HTPC and it is very quiet. My HTPC is geared towards relatively quiet operation and adding this PSU in place of an Ultra V-Series 500 watter with a 120mm fan didn't result in any added noise whatsoever.

Thanks guys. Looks like a nice PSU for the price, although I guess this deal is pretty much dead unless it comes back in stock today, as the rebate ends on the 8th.

should the 500W and the 430W be the same noise level? I'd be fine with the 430W at Staples, if so. I just want something quiet.

I think both come with the same high speed 80mm ADDA fan. The fan speed is controlled by the thermal sensor inside the CPU. If your case has adequate ventilation, then the PSU is whisper quiet.

That reviewer said heat sink temp is north of 80C. The heat sink on my 500 watter is only warm with a 280 watt load. Don't have anything here that will draw 500 watts from the PSU.

I just got the Antec EA-430W for $30 after rebate last week. Now this one came up. Is the extra 70w worth it? I do have to about $5 additional in tax, I wonder if the additional 70w is worth 5 bucks. Anyone?

The 500W has 2 PCI-E 6-pin plugs, if that is what you need. The 430W only has one.

Yeah, I jumped onboard and got the 500W version too. Now I have 2 Antec and only 1 case. Will have to sell one or build another computer..........tempting. 😀
