so... waht is so earty about this psu??

earthy in the sense, it's very efficient. I believe over 80% and as others have stated, it's really quiet (uses a 80mm back mounted fan)

Remember to follow rebate instructions to the "word & letter". I noticed this one requires you to circle the price on your copy of the receipt.

Don't want to end up like this:
Coolmax Power supply REBATE SCAM !!!

I caught it on my rebate submittal, just before I was getting ready to send.
Most rebate houses will do whatever they can to deny payment or at least delay it.

mdcrab

Yeah, or even if they don't outright deny they'll make you mail them another copy with whatever they need circled because they don't have eyes.

Good deal -- mulling it over but as a student my bank account might approach a limit of 0 so hrm...

What's the chances of rebates not being honored/fulfilled?

I would like some feedback on this as well.

Thanks

It's an ANTEC rebate, not a COMPUSA rebate. Mailing address is in Niagara Falls, same place most other antec rebates have to be mailed to. I've never had an ANTEC rebate refused, and I've submitted about six now.

In for one, got it today!

ya i think i might be in for one of these for a new s939 system build

definitely not the HIGHEST quality psu... but for the price it's definitely the highest qualty.

the jonnyguru review sold me on one of the enhance psu's... but this one works out to being $20-30 cheaper and comparable quality

The earthwatts should be a better deal, even at 10.00 more. It's more efficient, and could pay for itself over the course of a year in electric bill savings. That's if you pay the electric bill. The other stats should be better as well compared to a smartpower..

just got mine.........DOA

I bought it to replace a faulty PSU in my current system, and now this happens....of course. Hopefully it wont cost me much to ship it back and get the next one.

Sounds good. In for one and already placed an order few days ago. Got a tracking# can't wait to try it 🙂

Frys in san diego has the earthwatts 380 W for $19 after 25 mir. I have a question about these earthwatts specifically and other hi efficiancy units in general. They seem to mainly be effecient towards the upper end of their rating. e.g. try and keep the 500 watt unit running at 400+ during most use. Keep the 380 watt unit near 300 all the time. My current systems run 70-85 watts 99% of the time. Where do I find a high effeciency, 180 watt, active PFC PSU? Am I right that these antecs would only give me 55-65% effeciency on my HTPC system?

Just saw the answer in the 2 reviews mentioned above. They claim 80% efficient at 20, 50, and 100% power. So I guess I read it wrong before of PSUs are getting better.

did anyone get a reciept with their PSU? Mine did not come with anything in the box (besides the unit itself) but I can print an invoice from CUSA website, will that work?

I did not order one so I can't say about getting a receipt, but just wanted to let you know to save a receipt, Antec requires one should you ever need to do an RMA.

I ordered one from compusa with the rebate about a month and half ago and and I printed the invoice from the website. My rebate was accepted and is processing although I have not gotten the check yet.
