Antec Aria owners: Can you fit a Thermalright HS?

One reviewer at NCIX.com mentioned that he "ended up going with a THERMALRIGHT SLK-947U COPPER HEATSINK AMD/P4 92MM *FAN NOT INCLUDED and installed a TMD fan and it fit nicely."

The TMD fan is a 70x70x15mm fan. Ideally you'd have a 92mm, which of course is 25mm in height.

Anyone try fitting some various Thermalright heatsinks? I think the 900u might be a bit smaller than the 947/8U's.

Antec should keep a list of coolers/fans that are compatible, especially considering how important of an issue heat is with this case. Maybe we should wait for the next version of an Antec SFF where such problems may hopefully be fixed?

Nope. I went with a Zalman. It barely fits!! Let us know if your Thermalright fits and see if you can get a pic of the clearances....they won't be much!

I built an Aria system just two weeks ago. There is (give or take 3mm) 66 mm of clearance for a heatsink.

I mounted a Speeze falconrock 2, but due to the grille on the fan, it wouldn't fit. Even if it did, airflow into the fan wouldn't sucked more cock than Vanilla Ice.

I ended up sticking a Zalman 80mmx15mm slimline fan onto the heatsink, used my dremel to cut down the stock Speeze fan bolts by 9mm, and voila - 10mm of clearance under the PS, plenty to get decent airflow.

The POS motherboard I used (and will never use again for a system, let alone an SFF) didn't have hardware temp monitoring, but using Speedfan I tracked the HD temps via SMART.

Thanks to a custom mount I rigged on the side of the optical drive, a 60mm variable temp fan breezing over the hard drive kept it at a frosty 35C. I assume the processor is good, because I burned it in with 3 days of the 3Dmark demo. Exhaust from the PS fan and included blower was only slightly warm by the end of it.

As for the thermalright, if someone stuck an SLK-947 in there with TMD fan, it might fit. I think the 947, top of my head, is less than 46mm, and if the TMD fan was 10mm, they got another 10 or so of clearance.

Personally, I think the best option for quietness and decent cooling would be a Zalman Flower, but they don't come cheap.

Excellent, thanks MachFive!

It really does sound like a zalman is the way to go. Maybe we should wait for Antec's next SFF release?

I've fit the Zalman 6500Cu in there, but couldn't cram a real fan on top.
still, running stable at all loads, to its credit.
