Antec 510w PSU refurb @ Newegg $64 Shipped

They aren't really necessarily refurbished but just customer returns who didn't want them or didn't have the money.

NewEgg is just great on price and equipment but watch your shipping and Handling. 2 one oz things will be added with detrimental feelings on your part.

an other thing I would like to add is that I just bought a refurbed 431w enermax from them and I'm exxtremely pleased with it. It was brand damn new. YMMV

<< +5V and 3.3V combined output: 200 Watts max. is too low for a 510W PS >>

Didn't notice that when I posted.

That is really low!

As for refurbs from newegg, I have never had a problem. Everything I ordered from them has been top notch, like-new, and in perfect working order.

well i used to get relatively good refurb stuff from newegg, but recent several months i got high ratio DOA crap from them. and i have to pay return shipping to send junk back.

better pay a little more and get brand new items.

<< OT:Is there any way to tell the amount of watts on +5V and 3.3V once an powersupply is installed? >>

If installed properly, which you pretty much have to do, there should be a label with information showing.

On this label should have something like 3.3+5v Max xxx watts. or amps.

My Antec 300w has a box that says "180W combined" that located directly under the 3.3 and 5v amp ratings.

Hope this helps.

Edit: only 200W? well, I guess the other 310W could be used to drive some pretty big water pumps for cooling....or the compressor to the soda refrigerator next to your computer 😀

Yes, ask Sandra, she will know. I have a lil proggie that came with my Asus A7M266-D called PC-Probe.

My Enermax 431W Whisper is rated at 220W on the +5V and 3.3. 😱

yeah, wtf does all that other wattage go? i'm confused. 😕

I think it's designed to run alot of scsi/ide drives for raid from the
12volt output.😕

Ahhhh......that would make a lot of sense now wouldn't it? 🙂

I've learned a lot about PSU's from this thread, more than I have from any other thread on AT in a very long time.......I should start lurking more often. ;D

LOL at MrCraphead! 😀

You could of just asked me! 😉

Good deal, however I wouldn't trust my computer to a refurbed PSU. 😉

I wanted to update this Thread.
I just received this ps and it dosn`t say the combined watts on the label and from what I understand it might not be 250 watts combined in which case I would return the ps.
Is there any program that will give you the combined rating once installed?

**************** WARNING ******************
I have ordered & returned this PS already. It is NOT an ATX PS.
It has a non-standard 24-pin MB power connector. It only works with one MB in the universe--the high-end Tyan MP board (I don't remember the model name).

I can't say whether they have changed it as the Antec site is currently down.

You have been warned...

I see Antec is now calling it an ATXGES PS. I can't comment on ATX 12V vs ATX 2.03 vs ATXGES compatibility, but I can tell you that the MB connector would not fit on my motherboard.

I would suggest that you contact Antec for more information.

BTW, what does IIRC mean?

For a rough estimate you can calculate the maximum wattage by using the product of amps and volts. So your 5V output - which is the most important one as it fuels the CPU -may have 40Amps which makes it 200W(40x5) do the same with the other circuits.

IIRC=If I Remeber Correctly

I went and looked at Antec's site again and noticed (again) that I skim too much:

"510 Watt Athlon MP Power Supply
(*Now UL Approved) for Tyan Thunder K7 only."
I read "UL Approved for Tyan Thunder K7 only." Bad, baad.

"designed for the Tyan Thunder K7"
Missed this since I look at specs and not "marketing blurbs."

Too bad, the 12V line max is nice. I'm not so good at recrimping and I doubt
there's an available spec on such a nonstandard header. Hi again PC P&C...
