Antec 500W SmartPower Power Supply for 59.99 after rebates

CompUsa is selling this power supply for 99.99 - $15 Instant Savings - $25 Mail-in-rebate.

This makes it 59.99 for this power supply. Is this a good deal for this particular power supply? It seems like it is pretty good, lowest Pricewatch price is $70.70 from YesMicro, they have pretty good reviews it seems. Should I run over and pick this up tomorrow?

 
It's not even modular, so how can it be any good? The Ultra X-Connect is obviously a better PSU. Trust me, I should know. After looking at the pictures, the Ultra is all class. It has a glossy coating and you only have to plug in what you need. The Antec looks dull. Like they were just rushing it out.

Not sure about cooldeal guy (Ultra are absolute garbage), but that Antec is really quite nice. That is an outstanding price after rebates. I highly recommend Antec and I've used them in ALL of the machines I build (except one with a Vantec which seems pretty decent).

With tax in NY it is $67.00

New Egg has these at $77.00 delivered. So good deal if you pay tax. Very good deal if you dont.
 
Hm. I've owned three or four Antecs over the years.

Antec SmartPowers were not as good as Antec TruePowers at same wattage (by far).

...and that's when they're compared to the same brand - different series - same wattage.

So I'd have to say from experience, today I would probably go with even a 400W Fortron over a 500W SmartPower Antec.

Not only are you wrong about Ultra PSUs, you're also wrong about this one. This PSU (the 500w SmartPower) actually is modular.

The antec PS do not have good reviews especially if you are running the newer motherboards with all the power connectors. I have 2-550W Antec units that I am currently replacing since they do not work on my Asus SLI and MSI mobos. I am back to using Enermax and Seasonic. I had to find out the hard way thay these Antec units were causing my computer not to boot. I would pass on these units.

If you ever had any credibility, it all went to the crapper as soon as you made that comment. Please go learn about the interiors of a ps as oppose to the "glossy" encasement. But I guess the folks at Ultra has done their job if they have won over fanboys like you.
