It's weird. I am not sure if the 21 amps are newer or older. Reason is on the Antec site, they list the SP350 as 16a. I have one I am selling from my SLK3700 case as well with 21a. If you go to the antec site for the TP430, they say 26a, and I just purchased one with 26a. Newegg sells the TP430 with 20a however. So I am not sure if antec is moving the smartpower down from 21 to 16 or the other way. I am pretty sure antec is moving the truepower 430 up from 20 to 26 based on what others have said on this forum. The smartpower I am not sure.
I would think a reputable company like antec would increase performance to make people happy rather than decrease performance and tick everyone off. I think the antec site might not have been recently updated.
On newegg, the reviews for 2 of their cases have reviewers saying that they got 21a or 22a with their cases. Both reviews were from the past 35 days or so.
It is a good PS. I have it in the case that I just got last month. I don't really have alot in my system right now, (XP2500@3200, 1 Gig corsair XMS DDR400, 9500PRO, Maxtor 160g HDD, NEC3500A, and an ATI TV wonder VE) but its good to know that it handles itself well. I'm gearing up to do an overhaul of my system, going to go A64/PCI Express, SATA.
What gets me is how QUIET the PS is, I unplugged my case fans when I was fooling around with it putting it all together, and its barely sounded like it was on!!
I had a smartpower that came with my antec case 350w but would't cover everything. Things would shutoff etc. now I have the EPS12v tru550w and all is well.
practically given away during some frys sales now.what was it? 5 dollars? 15? i forget. got mine for 50..worked for years. not quiet though. and the ecs mb killed it i bet. the mb connector literally fused itself together. melted bit on the connector, and the pins musta been welded together, i could not force it apart heh.
