it was a rocky road to put together my first system, but i decided on the p150. now, we all know about the neohe. now i feel like i'm starting over again. i narrowed it down to 2 cases. the sonata 2, or the 3000B+seasonic 430. i just can't decide. $150 for the 3000B or $90 (70 AR) for the Sonata2. reviews seem to say the the 3000B is slightly better than the sonata....but i can't really justify spending $50 more for something "slightly" better. can you guys help?

I think the SLK3000B is extremely good for the money. Contains nice fan space, a good HDD bay and has most basic features anyone needs. Good build quality.

Personally, Id go for the SLK3000B and use the $50 to go towards other parts.

I would go for the 3000B, then again I own one so I'm somewhat bias. All in all it's a great case: quiet, good layout, and relatively easy to install your components into.

Seems like you're comparing apples to oranges here... the PSU in the Sonata2 can't really be compared to the Seasonic. If you wanna do a proper comparison, you should either look at buying the Antec PSU for the 3000b, or selling the SmartPower and buying the Seasonic for the Sonata2. This stuff aside, from what I've read, I'd go with the 3000b.

I was thinking about purchasing a 3000b a while back when Amazon had em for $44 shipped, but I missed out on that, so it's now over $65 shipped from em. Does anywhere have em for under $50 shipped to California anymore?

In your case, I'd go for the Sonata value wise. It's not that much worse when it comes to cooling and it's prettier too.

I have both the original Sonata and SLK3000B and think they're both equally good. I kind of like my Sonata better because it's nicer looking 😉

I have the SLK3000B. Where are you getting it with a power supply? They come from Antec with no power supply now, so maybe this is a special from some reseller. I love my 3000B -- just used one on a new build and it was a pleasure to work with, and I just ordered another one. Cooling is great too, though you might want to order a 120X25 fan for the front. (It comes with one 120 adjustable speed fan in the back.) Can't you just get the 3000B without the PSU and then find a deal on whatever PSU you want? Provision still has the 3000B for like $31 + shipping. My shipping was something like $16. Nice case for under $50 shipped. Sorry, can't compare to the Sonata because I haven't used one.

If you want a SLK3000B with PSU, then you should look at the SLK3800B. It's the SLK3000B case with a 400W SmartPower 2.0 PSU.

Let me breakdown the pros and cons of each case since I have both (original Sonata but you wouldn't use the ducts anyways).

SLK3000B is taller (slightly)
Sonata is wider (slightly)
SLK3000B has more room to work in
SLK3000B airflow is better
Sonata looks much better
Sonata picks up more finger prints and dust
SLK3000B to me rattles a bit more
Sonata has a 120mm fan inside the case, which I prefer because not only does it pull air over the HDD it can also blow directly on a passive northbridge heatsink and a passive heatpipe that you may have on your video card
Sonata 2's door opens all the way, SLK3000B doesn't
SLK3000B has holes on the side (a con to me but you can tape over it)
I think the SLK3000B has more room between the PSU and the CPU socket for bigger heatsinks, but I haven't measured it

Quick search didn't bring up any hits on on Provision. Could you be kind enough to provide a link?
