The antec 1080 case comes with two 80 mm (i think, maybe 92) fans in the back. Is this the ideal position for them, or should I put 1 of these fans in the front? If so, which one should I move? The case also has a side-fan above the video card.

its up to you really, ideally you could have on in the front to bring air in and one in the back to move air air, so theres like a constant air flow, and it doesnt really matter which one you use, just make sure that after theyre set up that the one is actually bringing air in and that the other is bringing air out eh?

You can place them however you want. If you want to have negative air pressure, leave them both in the back. If you prefer positive air pressure, place 'em both in the front. Balanced? One front intake, one rear exhaust.

Quickly:
- Positive pressure: Front intake fans bring in fresh air and force dead air out the back
- Negative pressure: Rear exhaust fans force hot air out, thereby drawing in cool fresh air from front to stabilize pressure
- Balanced: Intake fan brings fresh air in, exhaust pushes it out

I used to be a proponent of balanced air pressure, but now I'm leaning more towards negative air pressure as a better (and quieter) way of cooling.

Best thing is to just play around with their positioning and see which best suits your needs. :)

You're going to have a power supply fan too, so you won't be able to get balanced air pressure. Supposedly negative pressure is better, as positive pressure does all kinds of weird things to airflow. Personally, I'd put one in front of my hard drive(s), and leave one in back. The only thing that sucks about negative air pressure is that it draws in dust through every little crevice (I have a really dusty house).

definitely leave them where they are, which is in the back. i have a similar case with 2 fans (old model SX630) and CPU was hotter once i put one fan on the front. i have also said this on the other thread:

AMD actually suggests that front intake fans have no effects on cooling. I think AMD is right, intake fans are useless/less effective.

Why not take the fan off the side door and stick it on the front? The door fans make cooling worse, disrupts front-rear airflow, etc. so take it off and use in HD cage.

Otherwise just get an 80mm fan, most are less than $10.
