It states somewhere in the bible... "blah blah blah 666 is the number of the devil" or something like that...
 
Well it says 666 is the number of the beast. Personally, I think they were referring to the wildabeast. It seems like satan would be more creative when choosing a number for himself. I could see him going with pi, or e, or something like 75369.11, but not 666.
 
And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead,
and he provides that no one has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Here is the wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

In the Bible, the number 7 is associated with perfection and God.

The number 6 is considered a man's number that falls short of perfection as 6 falls short of 7.

666 is three degrees of "6"
