[Answered] How to Stop Automatically-Playing Videos?

My pet peeve is videos that are automatically started when a webpage is loaded. Are there any browser settings and/or add-ins that preemptively halt video playbacks as they are loaded? (Using Firefox-64 presently)

Thanks!

In Chrome, I set plugins as click-to-play. So stuff like Flash videos have a gray box that I have to click on if I want them to play. I don't mind ads, but the auto-play stuff drives me nuts too! (and also Flash tends to eat up a ton of RAM if you have a lot of tabs open)

The same can be done with Firefox. go to Add-ons page - Plugins - Flash... set to "ask to activate"
Or install the Flashblock add-on.
Or uninstall Flash.

Not sure how to stop HTML5 or if auto-playing is even a problem.

Yes, auto-playing HTML5 is a problem which will be encountered without Flash or when Flash is disabled.
