Rumor is that they are now developing for the Unreal 4 engine and it is going to be developed for console primarily and may be ported to the PC.
They had to make this significant change due to the cost of game development being so high they could not make it primarily for the PC and expect to turn a profit.
Release date is still WID (When It's Done),but fans can expect it sometime after 2012 or sometime after the next version of the Xbox and PlayStation 4 ships.
George hopes to get this project finished before he dies.It will be his legacy.

2012...whew! That's going to be a long wait now. 🙁

Im in my EARLY 50's and still play PC games. As good as I was years ago? NAH..
Different.
In L4D (A definate TWITCH shooter) I am more the voice of logic and reason......

You kids dont know about intersecting arcs of fire in CQB...
When I first instructed (well more like shouted) GET in the ROOM Auto shotgun in front crouching, Assault Rifle behind, standing and do not REPEAT do NOT fire in tandom and the other 2 guys, to the sides with pistols.....Fully discharge weap and call out when MT, reload. Other weap does same...TAKING turns. Wash Rinse repeat. Pistol guys are off to the the sides... Clearing up stragglers. We BREEZED through many HORDE rushes on advanced, with no problems.
In fact the one kid wanted to set off Red Cars on purpose 😀
Ahhh youth.

But that being said..... Can ANYTHING live up to the long wait/hype?
Look at SPORE... Spore launched and died IMO and according to my son who BOUGHT the game.
Dont get me wrong, I will buy it. But will it be good? Who knows.
Lets just say TF2 did well IMO as did the second coming of Sid Meirs Pirates (still BITTER about no Treasure Fleet or Gold Train) but they were still good games.

If I know these guys (and a few of them I actually do, all the way back to 1987 and Apogee) they spend about 60% of their "work" time goofing off and partying and the other 40% actually doing something work related like coding or modeling. Which means you might see this game in the next few years, if your very lucky and they don't change the engine 2 or 3 times in the meantime or decide to move the office again.

Does anyone actually still care about this game anymore? Duke Nukem lies cold in his grave as far as I'm concerned.

If we're at 11+ years of not getting DNF, we must be at the 10 year anniversary of the first "DNF is taking forever!" jokes.

My favorite was from bash.org I think, something like "I bet in 1997 you'd have never guessed that you'd be getting married before Duke Nukem Forever came out." I saw that around the time I got married and laughed. Of course, even that was three years ago.

If Valve tried to make a parody of DNF it would probably come out a long time after DNF itself.

Good point. EA or Ubisoft could probably pump out a good parody in 6 months 🙂

do u want quality? or just another game that could have been something else?

I still remember that November 97 (i think) issue of PC Gamer that got me all hyped up for the game. Now, 11 years later, still nothing except a crummy trailer and a new Wallpaper

In 2006, I bet a friend $100 and a copy of the game that we would not see Duke Nukem 4Ever released before December 31st, 2009 (ie the last day of this decade). Looks like I'm about to be $100 richer in a year. I don't expect to have the game anytime soon though. 😉

A lot has changed. In 1997 i was a pimply, awkward high schooler. Now i'm a pimply, awkward adult.

So, which was it- 12/31/09 or the last day of this decade (12/31/10)?
