Played it a bit the other night.
And omg, it's hardcore old school
Some of the menus/UI are still a bit clunky (reserving/unreserving turn units only works from within a popup menu, taking way too many clicks) and there's a bit of a lack of weapon stats, considering that the game is so much about micro management, so there's a feeling of being a bit lost, at the start.
There's also a bit of a question mark about how grenades and AOE weapons work, and the manual and tooltips are a bit lackluster. But I really enjoy getting right into the micro management that they permit, and the randomly generated maps aren't too bad either.
I'd recommend it to anyone who can give the game the hour it takes to figure out how stuff works, because from there on it seems like it can work. At least the first few attempted play-throughs it looks like there's a plethora of ways of how to approach the issue.
