So as I was about to fire up my new COD World At War, I wanted to have my music playing on the four surround speakers i have set up (2 2 speaker and sub setups) and my game only my headphones. I have a HIFI audio chipset built into my motherboard (Creative Sound Blaster X-FI) on a MSI P6N Diamond. As a side thought to help a friend who brought this up years ago could you send 3 music sources to seperate audio cards to be able to run say wmp, itunes, jetaudio to seperate output sources at the same time? Any help is greatly appreciated!

nope not going to happen. You won't be able split it like that. Even if the headphones where USB, therfore there own separate audio device from the sound card, Windows doesn't have a feature to split what audio source uses what audio device. In XP you are able to designate one source as the input (mic) and one as the output (headphones/speakers) but thats it. Now you may be able to find an audio player that can manage the job but it would require the use of multiple sound cards.

Hmmm... wish I had done more in school (as in anything). Ya know that would make a great feature for a sound card......
