Don't install Vista on your main hard drive unless you are comfortable taking chances. It took me a whole day of work to figure out how to set up everything on a single hard drive with XP on one partition and Vista on another.

Vista hosed things multiple times by taking over the boot order etc. I backed up everything first and have images of my XP OS partition as well.
I am using XP as my main OS now since I cannot get my X-Fi to work under the 64 bit version of Vista. My printer (ML-2010) and scanner (HP 2200c) do not work under Vista either.

Don't bank on having Vista as your main OS. It may take a while for all the drivers to become available.

my current XP Pro SP2 os is installed on a pair of Raptors in RAID 0 ( C drive). i was thinking of installing a third sata drive and loading Vista on that. will it give me a dual boot option?
opinions?

Read my post on this page about what happened to me today. I installed Vista on my machine on a spare drive and my XP was on a RAID 0 and disconnected during the Vista install. Now XP will not boot, machine hard resets. Take a look at my post, it explains everything and I still haven't figured out how to recover. About to do a repair recovery. BE CAREFUL!!!

I originally was planning to install Vista on a partition off of my Cdrive. Had some unrelated (to the partition) install issues, and now (after reading some posts) I'm glad I installed on a totally separate disk.

Good luck trying to get 3 SATA's to work. It doesn't even seem to like 2.
