But I bet Soros bought a bunch of Campbell’s stock to fire him...
I have zero sympathy for morons like this guy. He has a big job and he has to tweet? He has to tweet about something controversial too?
Moron.

The Campbell Soup lobbyist who said George Soros' foundation was assisting a caravan of migrants bound for the United States is no longer with the company.

Kelly Johnston, formerly Campbell's vice president of government affairs, tweeted on Monday that the Open Society Foundations arranged for "troop carriers" and "rail cars" to support the caravan

cnn said:
"In the last few days, the company and Mr. Johnston have agreed that under the current circumstances it would be best to accelerate the timing of his departure," a company spokesperson told CNN Business. Thursday was his last day.
Johnston did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN Business.
Campbell (CPB) disavowed Johnston's tweet, saying on Tuesday that "the opinions Mr. Johnston expresses on Twitter are his individual views and do not represent the position of Campbell Soup Company."

Christ Campbells, is that the best you can do?

"We expect our leaders to present facts, to deal with objective truths and to exercise impeccable judgment," he wrote. " Mr. Johnston's remarks do not represent the position of Campbell and are inconsistent with how Campbell approaches public debate."

Still pretty weaksauce.

Makes you wonder why they fired him with those comments. They admit his tweets are his views and not the companies and that it’s inconsistant with his public debate.

I think the rest of that statement is usually that as a representative of their company, they can't have him publicly making these statements as they can reflect badly on their company values. Or this is poor judgement and if employees make bad decisions with the content that they post and do not understand its impact on a readers perception of the poster, he will make bad work decisions as well. After all, corporations are people and reflective of the people who work there, right?

What did you expect them to do?

Condemn the use of the company name to help politicise a matter utterly unrelated to the company
Condemn the fuelling of racial hatred
Condemn the baseless accusations and associating the company with those who make them (the second quote did do this, kinda, in as few words as possible)
Condemn any possible association with anti-Semitism
State the company's values with regard to related topics

More positive examples of how humanity should behave are needed in the US at a time when the President does the absolute opposite. Campbell's response strikes me as the fastest cut-and-run they could manage.

Looks like Campbell's response was a result of the typical message massaging you'd hear and see after the lawyers, PR, HR and Marketing get done fighting over it.

That's it! I'm writing to my legislators!

They need to pass a new law banning GMO Latinos! Those kids are genetically modified! They're Yu-ge!

Call out the National Guard! Occupy the border! Those kids are coming with grenade launchers!

That's really nasty of Soros -- gettin' into genetic modification like that!

Johnston got his over the years so i'm sure he DGAF what Campbell's says. He's either setting himself up to be retired or to run for office in his native Oklahoma.

If so, no doubt he'll talk about being silenced by the libruls :p
