They couldn't put it on the truck today. I really hate UPS and use Fedex whenever possible. :|

Sounds like another "Fool Doesn't Know What He's Doing" thread, referring to you as the Fool. I could write a 10-page paper as to why you're wrong, why UPS didn't deliver the package today, and why UPS doesn't suck, but you probably wouldn't get it. So, I'll leave it at that.

Please explain why they didn't deliver the package today. I would love to hear it.

UPS carried my Z560's to my house. One of the corners on the box was completely crushed in. Thank goodness they had packed plenty of peanuts in the box and extra tape. It sure need it. I have never had a FedEx package show up with damage.

True, I've never ever had fedex hurt any of my packages... hell they still resembled boxes... meanwhile, when I purchased my dj equipment, one of my speakers was cracked almost in half from them handling it so damn bad...

At least pro sound and stage lighting was kind enough to pay for return shipping and shipping to send out a new one (that couldn't have been cheap, sendin to california at a weight of 66lbs...yikes)

When I was in college I worked for RPS which is now Fedex Ground. Before Fedex came in. we use to do some of the most horrible things to peoples boxes. After Fedex came in we never again let a box leave that had been crushed in any sort of form. If it was damaged we opened up the box to check the contents. If there was a problem, we contacted who ever we could get a hold of, usually the shipper, and got replacement sent the same day. Fedex seems to be more customer friendly than UPS.

Still waiting for the reply from PowerMac4Ever. 😀

UPS sucks b@lls

once i sold a McIntosh A/V receiver on Ebay and chose UPS ground to ship it. The dude told me UPS had some bad history breaking the glass panel so I used lots and LOTS of foam, bubble wrap, etc etc etc ANYTHING you can imagine to pack that thing up, into a box which is clearly marked fragile and bought 2000 insurance on it.

Guess what?

the glass panel broke!!!

wtf is that? I mean, I can still claim insurance but for a package clearly marked it can *still* be mishandled.

Fedex people are friendlier IMO

UPS didn't deliver your package because that's how their system works. For those of you who want fast and cheap ground shipping, consider fedex ground! only fedex shipping centers have this service but it's VERY reliable and cheap and fast (5 days anywhere in the US I think)

As to why it didn't get delivered today? I don't know. When was it scheduled to be delivered?

It was scheduled to be delivered today. I am guessing they "misplaced" it somewhere in the terminal. I just hope it didn't fall off of some truck. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Oh - that sucks. You should be able to call up UPS tomorrow and give em hell or something. (Yelling at the truck driver wont do much good b/c it's not his fault)

It's America, not Soviet Russia, where Package Shipper chooses you. You don't like it, you don't have to use it, nor do you have to purchase from someone who doesn't. Next time, rent a car and ship it yourself! What a novel idea!

Actually I didn't have a choice in shipping. The cmpany only ships UPS and I actually called them to see if they would do fedex. The thing I ordered was only available from these guys. So I didn't have a choice and I did need what I ordered or my next project just wouldn't go anywhere.

I didn't respond because I was playing StarCraft you fool. I'll start for now.

Why UPS has a bad reputation amongst the regular folks:

FedEx has always been pretty much 100% air freight until now. UPS has always been pretty much a ground freight company. When it comes to ground, UPS owns the country. You don't hear horror stories about FedEx breaking packages because most customers use FedEx for overnight deliveries. There really isn't a large window of opportunity for packages to break in one night. I guarantee you that the % of mishandled packages for UPS Next Day Air and FedEx Overnight are the same. Same deal with UPS and FedEx 2 day and 3 day packages. Ever notice that whenever someone complains about UPS breaking a package, it's a ground delivery? FedEx didn't have a breakage reputation because up until now they didn't have a ground network! Duh Duh Duh! People often preferred FedEx delivery over UPS because the lowest FedEx service was the 3 Day Express Saver vs the up to 6 days UPS Ground. That's still true today because many businesses don't use FedEx Ground. Get it now genius?

I'm going to explain a little more about how UPS and FedEx work. UPS has a HUGE HUGE HUGE ground network. The UPS ground backbone in this country is truely breathtaking. Up until roughly 20 years ago, UPS was strictly ground. Then UPS developed its new air network to compete with FedEx. What do you get when the largest ground backbone receives "air support"? You get the most efficient package delivery company in the country. Meanwhile, as stated before, FedEx was strictly air. They have more planes than UPS right now. And, as most of you know, FedEx launched their ground network recently, which will be good for them once they begin making a profit off of it.

REMEMBER
UPS: The ground delivery company with an air network
FedEx: The air delivery company with a ground network

Other things I'll note:
UPS's ground network is 100x as good as FedEx's.
UPS's air network is more efficient than FedEx's. Most of UPS's planes fly filled with packages whereas FedEx has many planes flying half empty. Sorry, but FedEx just has too many planes.

OMG you jackass. FedEx seems to be more customer friendly than UPS? Umm excuse me, but I read in your post that you worked for what was RPS and became FedEx. Maybe my vision needs to be checked, but I can't seem to find where you said you worked for UPS. FedEx seems to be more customer friendly because it's the only delivery company you've worked for? THAT makes sense

you biased slut. Also, your experience with one FedEx distribution center does not speak for every single one of them. Same deal with UPS: one person's problem doesn't mean everyone else will have the same problem all the time.

Also, I would like to point out that UPS is more customer friendly to big business. FedEx doesn't seem to care about big business contracts. It amazes me how versatile UPS is for such a huge company. UPS WANTS your money, and they work for it. Oh, and many of the nation's largest computer companies use UPS to ship its goods. In fact, I will guarantee you that most computers shipped today are shipped UPS Ground. Maybe Dell uses UPS because they actually know how to pack a package compared to some of the people here? Hmm?

More to come from me later. It's 1:20 AM and I'm tired - I'll take the blame for my spelling mistakes and grammar errors later

My company uses FEDEX and everything I've gotten from Dell has been shipped Airborne Express. 🙂 Overnight...

I still like Fedex better then UPS. I don't know about Big Businesses, but I know the Fedex delivery men are a hell of a lot better then the UPS here in Orange County. My garage will be open and have people in there and the UPS guy will walk up, ring the doorbell and leave the damn package. He won't wait for anyoen to come to him or anything.

The Fedex guy on the other hand has knocked on the garage to get the attention of the people inside, AND has rung the doorbell and actually wait to see if anyone was home to receive the package.

Fine, UPS is a better ground shipping, but why should I switch to them while Fedex will get my packages there faster and for about the same price, and from my personal experience in better shape? Oh well, screw you all, I'll stick with my Fedex and USPS and you people use whoever the heck you want.

Well that's fine. 😛 I'm not saying that they are terrible in every instance. I'm claiming that is it my hypothesis ( 😛 ) that company and nationwide, UPS has the worst customer service for the little people.

How can you call optoman's opinion wrong. It's just an opinion, they don't have any right/wrong to them. And WTF are you in such a pissy mood? or is that how you are normally? fool.

I've had UPS shipments misrouted, no big deal. Between my father and myself, probably over 1000 shipments have come and gone from my house and not a single one was ever damaged by UPS. The driver is always courteous, even shares grandchildren pictures with my mom 😛 The customer counter is also very good, the ladies there are always nice.

At least UPS doesn't hold your package since you only payed for 3 day and they don't want to deliver it to you a day earlier, even if it's been sitting in their warehouse since the day before :eyeroll;

If it was scheduled to be delivered today and today was the end of either the 3 days or 5 days then they will immediately issue you a full refund.

I just like UPS better. If you didnt get your package today, big deal. You MIGHT live somewhere very far away. I just like the idea how UPS is quick to process insurance claims. If your boxes get damaged, pack better. Use some common sense. UPS is also the only people I trust when I ship to remote areas, since they really know their roads. FedEx likes to call me up to ask "how do I get there".
