Another thread on maturity level in WoW

Let me start by saying I've generally had pleasant experience playing the game. I found most people I've grouped with to be nice and helpful and the game itself enjoyable. Well, all that changed once I hit level 40. As soon as I did, I started running out into jerks and immature kids on a daily basis. I think I've been called names more times the last few weeks that I've ever been called in real life.

The bad experiences range from grouping with a priest that wouldn't heal anybody and warlock who wouldn't shut up and wouldn't stop cursing. Then you can add a guy who called me names because I refused to end my auction early and sell the item to him, or another guy kicking me out of the group because he found somebody higher level to take my place. The list goes on and all of this happened after 40.

So I'm starting to wonder if this is going to only get worse as I level higher. My guild (Knights of Nef of ATOT) is great and I enjoy teaming with them, but unfortunately we're pretty small, so at any given time there's usually 3-4 people online. So teaming with them isn't always an option. I don't mind lag as much, but I think these bad experiences are starting to turn me away from this game.

There are great ppl and asshats. At lvl 60 I found there to be more serious players than anything else, probably due to the time commitment required. Serious doesn't mean they were nice though.

I started a character on the new pvp server (Gurubaishi) last week. I've never seen so much whining and fighting in general chat before. I wanted to play full-time on the new server but I might go back to my old character just because of all the immaturity I have to put up with.

I've played quite a bit on both the alliance and horde sides of my old server, and they are both immeasurably better than the new server. I'm hoping it's just because there are a lot of new players, and it will get better with time.

I can recommend my server, Tichondrius. I've never had the problem you're describing (though I did basically solo to 60 to catch up with my guild). Perhaps if you stay where you are, you should look for a different guild to join, or start your own and bring over the other people from AT. You won't get anywhere in your current guild if you only have a group or less online at any given time, as neat as it is to have an AT guild.

So, I'd suggest starting your own and dragging the people from AT over. Eventually you'll get enough quality players. Remember, the other mature people on your server are most likely looking for the same thing.

Really? I've noticed some bad things at low levels. I play on DragonMAw which is great most of the time but when I was between 8-13 things were really horrible. I would party with people and I would communicate about quests and such but they NEVER responded back. IT was like I was playing with bots, but I had to tolerate it due to the level. When we took an encampment I said the first time "hey you guys can have the chest I'll get the next on"...then when the next one came while I was fighting they ( i think they were two frinds) would just walk up to the chest and take it!! Or the most recent that occured to me was around level 14 in Loch Modan~ I partied with a paladin and a mage to go into silverstream mine to get worker's clothes or something and once the quest was completed the guys hearthed right back to Thelsamar and disbanded the group. What is the problem? I WAS STUCK IN THE FREAKING MINE ALONE AT THE BACK! On top of that they only waited for enough gear to respawn for them....

Things like that piss me off sooo much.

But then there have been GREAT times as well. Such as partying up with a random character and they would go out of their way and help me on a quest they did a while back and I would repay the favor usually by sticking around for an extra quest or so. Or the other thing was I partied with 2 pallies and a mage and that was a BLAST. If I died they ressed me (instead of the other way around ). I'd cast PW:S and Renew on the Mage and he'd run into a group of enemies and blow them all to shards...things like that makes me want to CONTINUE to play


But I always thought the higher you get the more mature people are considering you have to spend that time playing...

There are assholes everyone, low lvl, high lvl, horde, alliance, it doesnt matter. Every server is different, the key is finding a good guild with people you can trust.

I haven't played WoW but I think this type of behavior pretty much applies to ALL online games. I've yet to find a multiplayer where there weren't a-holes online but I've also come across a ton of great people who know proper etiquette. Guess you just have to take the bad with the good when it comes to online gaming and hope to come across a server that has more favorable conditions than others. The world is full of jerks and online gaming is no exception.

Agreed. However, in real life possibility of fist to the face seems to keep most jerks in place. In online world no such possibility exists, thus jerks roam freely.

I agree, That Warlock and Priest we grouped with the other night were awful. I have found that once you start moving into harder to get to areas such as Tanaris, Feralas, and The Hinterlands, and maybe even Un'Goro the amount of stupid people decrease. I have only had one truly bad group in the many times that I have run Zul so far, and the Hinterlands and Feralas are generaly deserted.

I agree, That Warlock and Priest we grouped with the other night were awful. I know I should have done more to control the group but I was tired and just wanted to get though the instance. The warlock acted like a know it all kid and the priest didn't talk at all was wasn't healing anyone but herself. Believe it or not this is the first time I've had a bad experince in a group since I started playing on Bronzebeard. I'm hoping in the future to make myself more available to our guild members for questing help.

But did anybody notice that the Warlock said "use" to every drop we got? There were 3 different belts that dropped and he said "use" to all 3 of them. I wanted to call him out on that but I didn't feel like getting into an arguement with somebody who could be half my age.

I used to get fed up with some of the awful behavior on City of Heroes, but that place is full of sainted, elderly sages compared to my experiences on WoW. The volume and magnitude of flagrant asshattery in Azeroth is truly something to behold. For a while finding someone who communicated, played and cooperated decently was the true rarity. Of course my experience started after getting the game as a Christmas gift, so my timing might have been ill-advised.

Fortunately I've found the quality of players has gone up as I've leveled. Of course a good guild/set of friends is priceless for insulating you from a lot of the dregs.

I'd pay double the subscription money though for a lightly moderated premium server for folks like myself. AH begging? Spamming effects? Other stupid stuff that isn't hard-to-prove "he said she said" stuff? One warning, then "poof" transfered to another non-premium server on which to wreak their buffoonery.

on this alliance PvP server, my ignore list is now 7 times larger than my friends list. Never have had that happen before on Horde PvP or RP (either faction).

just got back from ingame, some asshole was asking around about where to get the automated fishing macro so he does not have to be at his desk while fishing.....
