Precisely. If a 30 year old male teacher tried to get some from my 13 year old daughter, he'd be one dead man. Don't get me wrong, while I would have loved to have gotten some from this hot teacher I had back in Junior High, how is this any better? Standard, or lack therof is the only difference.

 
Sex every other day for 18 months straight (hopefully minus those certain few days)? Win. While she may not be the hottest teacher ever, I would have been down for that when I was 13. Shit, this kid is going to be a pro in high school.

That's because we as a society like to pretend that young girls are always innocent victims who are preyed upon by older men. For some reason, we're utterly shocked by and in denial about the idea that young girls (post puberty) just might enjoy sex, too.
 
I probably would have enjoyed sex with a hot teacher too when I was 13... I probably would have also enjoyed chocolate cake every morning for breakfast and ice cream for dinner, but giving me what I wanted wouldn't have made my mom a responsible parent.

shouldn't we be able to rely on our teachers to be responsible adults and hold them accountable when they abuse the trust that parents and the community places in them?

Oh I do think a teacher should be fired for having a sexual relationship with a student. After all, it DOES represent a conflict of interest if nothing else. I just don't think they should be considered criminals for it.

There is absolutely nothing biologically abnormal to relationships between anyone who has passed puberty. American society has determined that the real age of adulthood is 18 while biology says it is around 13. You can see this difference in many other cultures, though few have defined it as old as 18.

Indeed. Males are at their sexual peak in the later teen years, why women reach their sexual peak in the late-20's to early-30's. Accounting for individual differences, I see no biological reason for this relationship being bad.

If the things said in the article are true, she is clearly insane... Writing the kid love letters? WTF makes her think that is a good idea? Posting on his MySpace page? Thats an even worse idea. I really, really feel bad for her husband. That has got to be a serious blow to him...
