I have three stalls outside my storage building behind my house. I went into the first stall to get some junk out. I was walking out of it and as soon I turned to my left to go into the next stall I was face to "back side" of this spider.

Does any of you know what type it is? I walked away, grab the camera, took the pic and just left it there.

I'm glad I left it there then. Hopefully it'll catch some bugs:) I walked by the storage building this morning and the spider still there:)

Thanks for the info:thumbsup:

Bah, that's nothing. When I moved down to Florida I found a few of these making a home in my garage. Not more than a month later I found one of these attacking some beetle near the water filtration system on the side of my home.

I'll take your harmless spider any day.

Where I live (in the "sticks") black widows are really common. You dont have to look to hard to find them. All I have to do is walk in or around my storage building or the two sheds. I normally leave them alone. Now, if they are around the house or the yard (where the kids play), sorry.............."squash." I really like spiders. But the only one that I have no simpathy for is the freaking brown recluse. They are alittle more difficult to spot. Normally they "find" you (lol). Their bite is freaking nasty. I have found two of those fuckers in the house......and once again.............."squash.............squash."

thats what i call them

same here

well you're all thinking of the wrong spider.
this is a banana spider. :)

edit:
all orb weavers have beautiful webs. In my parents back yard, a Cross Orb Weaver has taken up residence on the corner of the deck stars, and has been there for some 2 months now. thing almost always had an elegant web, unless it was destroyed for some various reason. in that case, the next day you will find a beautiful web that is spun overnight.
as much as I hate spiders, I love orb weavers as they are great for the yard. They help take care of pests.

I don't usually bother with spiders. My wife generally finds them for me, then promptly alerts me to their presence about .5 seconds later with a blood curdling scream. Then I have to catch it and release it outside, because killing things is wrong. Or something like that.

These weren't near some storage shed. The water filter system was a 15 feet from my daughter's bedroom window. Black widows can kill a 5 year old child.

Killing people is wrong. Spiders are meant to die, that's why egg sacs have hundreds of em.
