i'm looking to put together a nice home theatre system and i pretty much picked out all the stuff but i just want some opinions
Front speakers- JBL n38
Center - JBL ncenter
surround - JBL N24
Reciever- Technics SA-DX950
DVD - can't really decide Panasonic rv31?
TV - 32" sony wega
subwoofer- I have no idea

basically i can get all this stuff for about 1600 bucks, not including a subwoofer, i'm basically set on the tv, but i don't know too much about speakers and i just picked these based on price and some reviews, i'm willing to spend up to 2000(without the sub) , so if theres anything that you think could use an upgrade i would welcome any comments
i also could use some help on choosing all the wiring and stuff, i'm not all about dishing out extra cash for monster cable stuff, because i don't think that my components are really high-end and need it, thanks for any help

yeah, i just read what i wrote and so am i, basically i'm asking how is the quality of the components and if anything needs upgrading, and some advice on a DVD player, and sub, and wiring

In your price range, I would suggest the following:

Energy Take 5.2 Speaker System $649.00
Denon AVR-1802 Reciever w/ ProLogic2, DTS, and Dolby Digital $399.00
Pioneer DV-C603 Digital Progressive Scan DVD Player (carousel, so it can be used as a CD player too) $375.00
Sony KV32FS13 Trintron WEGA TV $753.95

TOTAL: $2176.95

This would make an EXCELLENT system. The stereo equipment is available here.

The TV is available here.

Try to get the stuff locally, to save shipping. Also, for reviews on all kinds of home theater equipment, check out Audio Review.

A friend of mine swears by JBL, but that's because he's a DJ and buys only their PA equipment. We listened to some JBL home theater stuff and weren't that impressed. You said you picked out JBL because of reviews and prices, but it doesn't sound like you've actually listened to them. I recommend you check out whatever speakers you plan to purchase before you purchase them. I did so and came away with an all Paradigm system (Monitor 5 v.2 fronts, Atom rears, and CC170 center) for $600 total (bought them used).

Check out a "high end" speaker store so you can buy your speakers assured that you weighed all your options. You could easily get a Paradigm, Klipsch, B&W, etc. system for as much as a JBL system, so don't limit yourself. Good luck.

Just wanted to second N8Magic's suggestion to check out
Audio Review for ideas on any and all components, and second his suggestion to check out the Denon 1802. I've got last year's version (1801), and it has performed quite well (even survived a New Year's champagne spraying). Good luck.
