Another "should I upgrade and to what" question...

I currently have a 2.4G P4 and a 9700 Pro AIW.

Used mostly for FPS games, and I usually upgrade every 1.5 to 2 years.

My current MB only supports AGP, and it looks like al the good Vid cards are now PCIexpress.

I was thinking about a 3500+ or 3700+, new MB, Video Card (X1800 ish), SATAII HD, and PS.

Is this a decent plan? Don't want SLI, but have read the MB's with this feature are better. Will overclock, but nothing radical.

Reccomendations?

You can wait and see over and over and over and never end up buying anything. Right now a 3500+ will be a VERY nice upgrade for you. You might even consider looking into a CPU/motherboard bundle... or possibly a motherboard/video card bundle like I recently bought. 7800GT with a SLI motherboard for $340 AR.

As far as getting a SLI motherboard or not... they're not necessarily better because of SLI, but the SLI boards tend to be enthusiast boards with beefed up MOSFET cooling and neato heatpipes on the chipset and tons of overclocking and overvolting options, etc.

Can you recommend a good link for the combo's?

I don't want to wait until Sept, been through this a millions times, there is always something faster in the wings...

I may get a PS3 later for just gaming if it is the shiznit when it comes out.

If you have a Fry's Electronics near you they always seem to have some killer combo deals... but you sometimes get stuck with a crappy ECS motherboard.

I got my 7800GT/nF4 SLI combo from Tiger Direct. ZipZoomFly was out of stock when I wanted to order. Tiger Direct doesn't have the best customer support, but they do have some decent bundles now and then.

Some of the first places I look are Monarch, Newegg, ZipZoomFly, and Mwave.
