i do once a week as well as my other guns. its gets dusty in the safe for some reason.

i just started my milsurp collection. i have a Mosin ( i refurbed it..stock and reblued it)..shot with my son after Christmas...was a great gun. bought a big tin of ammo for it. I just acquired an Russian SKS Tula 1952 (laminated) from a gun show. appears to be unshot and the bore is pristine. Just bought a 1000 rounds of wolf milspec ammo for pretty cheap and ready to cack off a few at the range. I have a Lee Enfield coming for my son. I would love a Garand. The are very expensive and the guys at the gun show are very proud of them. I guess I will have to wait. Where is CMP located? Where are you getting them? You can always try gunbroker, but they are high.

CMP is in Port Clinton, OH, but they ship the rifle to your door FEDEX. No FFL needed.

I see there is one also in Alabama. I have a FFL 03 Curos and Relics. I checked their website. Mostly out of stock and 180 days to get your gun on the rest. Jeebers, might do better at a gun show?

The CMP website indicates 60-90 day wait on the SA field grades for $595.

You aren't going to do better than that at a gun show.

I had to wait almost 2 years for mine via the CMP. Mine was a select grade, and it looks almost unissued (got it about 13 years ago). Been to Perry a few times and stayed at the POW camp. Its a blast shooting into Lake Erie with no backstop. I can't imagine how many tons of lead are at the bottom of that lake. Ive never shot mine, because our range has club Garands we can use any time. I've also gotten an 03A3 and .22 trainer through them. Can't beat that!😱

1. We just switched to vb recently so the whole image thing is new.
2. Get a resizing script on your end so this will never be a problem again.
3. Go fuck yourself.


Back on topic, I have a Garand and love it. Got a bunch of ammo a while back, I'm sure it's 2-3x more expensive now.

On a typical shooting outing how many rounds do you put through it? Less than when shooting pistols?

When I shoot pistol I usually use a .22, but I usually go through about 200 rounds... but then again it's dirt cheap and easy to shoot really fast.

I think if I got a garand I wouldn't shoot more than $20 worth of ammo (if not surplus that means just 20 shots) in a sitting, but I'd probably get a cheap Mosin or something to bring along with it.
