What you all don't realize is that the owner was actually the ownee as freecodecs.com is a fake site, and free-codecs.com is the real site.

The OP must have been right there when I posted it because I edited my post at the same time he posted his message.

I love h.264 video in quicktime, though I wish I had a Radeon card to accelerate it. Just about a month ago apple started putitng on their movie trailers site high-def clips of all new movies (720p and 1080p) and they look stunning, especially the one for King Kong.

It didnt prove any point. YOU'RE computer made the software crash. Apple's software works fine for everyone. Hell, we all get the SAME coding. Now go shoot yourself.

VLC or quicktime alternative both work fine for .mov files. Im not sure if it will do h.264 though.

VideoLAN Client is a very good media player. It supports h.264 and has a Mozilla plugin.

Just use VLC Media Player, it plays all Windows and Apple movie formats.

It resets file associations without the user's consent, so that those who don't know how to reset them (eg. 99% of PC users) have no choice but to play audio & video clips using QT. Thus they see the Apple logo every time they do. Brand recognition, basic concept of marketing. Since it's software, and its purpose is at least in part to advertise the Apple brand, it can thus be called Adware.

With that said... I get the distinct feeling the OP is one of those people who has a bunker stocked with 500 cans of food, 50 lbs. of Duracells and flashlights, guns, ammo... :Q

PEBKAC/PICNIC

Perhaps you'd like a Jump to Conclusions mat with a side of "preconceived and unfounded notions"?

Sweeping, misinformed assumptions for the lose.
