I know you guys see these all the time, but I've been a bit outta the loop for a while now and am thinking about spending my money on my outdated comp.

What I was thinking goes a little something like this:

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard................$129
Newegg Link

EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card...............$350
Newegg Link

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor...............$204
Newegg Link

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory................$109
Newegg Link

Total............$792

I would like to be able to play Bioshock, so will this be enough power to do so on high settings?

I plan on OCing the 6750, should I go with a slower processor and save some money and OC that higher?

Is it worth it to get the 640MB GFX card over the 320MB?

Just a few questions and thanks a million in advance.

Definitely...

You listed 6750 not 6600.. anyhow might want to take a look at some benchies and decide..
The G0 Q6600 truly lives up to its glory i must say.. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl...y/core2quad-q6600.html

Depends on your resolution...

Oops forgot to change that when I edited my post to the 6750 instead. But I dunno, the Q6600 looked pretty good, but the performance wasn't that much better for me to warrant the extra money and the extra heat that it caused when OCed. So I think I'll stay with the Dual cores for now.

Right now I am running at 1280 x 1024, but I will be getting a new widescreen 22in monitor that runs at 1680 x 1050 soon.

Any other suggestions on the system?

Nope, I have everything else I need and am going to get a new monitor in a few months. The system will look like this:

Conroe E6750 OCed Processor
2GB (2x1GB) Crucial Ballistix Memory
8800GTS 640MB
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R Mobo
Fortron 550W PSU
Antec SuperLanboy Case
Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer
Logitech 5.1 Speakers
350GB Seagate
DVD-RW

Looks good to me.

EDIT - Actually since you plan on overclocking, look into some aftermarket cooling for your CPU.

Oh yeah definitely, any suggestions on some good air cooling for the CPU? I also have 2 120mm's that need to be replaced with ones that are a bit more powerful, any suggestions on those?

Thanks a lot, and keep offering suggestions on the system 🙂
