Another random restart question

My friend just upgraded to an Athlon 64 (754) and gets his system to reboot everytime he tries to start windows. He is running a 3000+ on DDR266. Because the Athlon 64 runs at 200mhz, wouldn't the RAM cause a problem only running at 133mhz?

If this is not the problem, what could cause the restarts? Thanks for your time everyone.

His specs (I think):

Athlon 64 3000+
1G of No Name Ram DDR266
9800XT 256MB
500W PSU
Hitachi SATA 120G

You can run the slower ram with the cpu, but I think he'll need a divider. Without a divider, the ram may be trying to keep up with the cpu @200FSB and it's not likely to be able to do that. Sounds like it might be the problem.

If your motherboard does not have advanced BIOS settings that can run the memory at a lower speed, and that memory cannot overclock to 200mhz, then thats the reason.

Most motherboards do though, so lower your memory speeds.
