TIA

The PCB is 6.5 inches (or 165 mm) long, almost exactly. This doesn't include the mounting bracket or the amount that the connectors protrude from the braket.

heh, i was like, cool, something to replace the millenium + pure3d combo i have doing tv out right now

and then i remembered i have an AIW.. heh! :p

hmmm... maybe a box should go in the living room to play mp3s if the tivo hasn't been telnet-hacked to play mp3s yet...

EDIT: i just looked at my last sentence there and realized that i don't know how to get mp3s into the tivo... telnet i guess?

I picked up a couple of the pci cards at my store for $29.99. I also picked up a couple of 7000's 32mb ddr agp for $49.99. They don't appear to have tv out

Well, even though the ATI descritpion on the card doesn't mention video out, I'm willing to trust you all and drive down to check it out myself. Question though, has anyone used this card, very specifically the video out functions, with FreeBSD and Xwindows. I really want to use this for an out to TV DIVX and MP3 machine (viz plugs). Anyone, Anyone, Bueller?

Which card are you talking about? If you mean the Radeon PCI, I have one and it has TV-out. In fact, its listed as a major feature on the packaging. Good luck on finding one.

Ive owned a radeon ve, radeon 7500, and a radoen 8500. While the tv out is decent, its no comparison for a nvidia (brooktree/conexant) tv out with the use of tvtool. Even though tvtool costs a sum of money, the tv output to my 27 inch is uncomparable. TV output from radeon cards do a decent job about black borders, they usually fill up the top 80% of the TV. Enabling overscan through a registry entry cuts this black border down to 5% or so. Tvtool completely eliminates black borders. The main problem is clarity of the output. Color output are fine, yet text is rather blurry, and lines just arent as clearly drawn as they should be. Its rather difficult to explain, but if you want the best tvout, go with a nvidia card with a conexant/bt chipset, or of course component out from a AIW 8500 :).

unsped, I appreciate the offer and would take you up on it but as posted since they have now lowered the online price. Shipping is only $5 too. Yeehaw! Mumsy gets a nice upgrade from her Rendition Verite 2200 which lacks Direct3D hardware acceleration under NT 5.x. The VO is gravy.

unclebud, the price shown of $29.99 for that model includes the instant rebate and mail in rebate.

Note for PCI models the 7000/VE has dual monitor support but lacks the Charisma Engine (T&L etc). For gaming goodness and 800x600 "clone mode" VO get the Radeon (7200 core). Active cooling may not be necessary. At worst you can always replace the original HSF with a larger "486" style one sans fan. The LE DDR models came with larger heatsinks and no fan while the retail DDR models had the little heatsink and integrated fan.

Can anyone confirm that hardware DVD functions work with the PCI model? ATI's information does not make any distinction but I recall other video cards in the past where PCI models did not accelerate DVD.

I got my Radeon PCI working and I setup my old 15" Sony. Now I'm watching Family Guy on the 15" while I surf the internet on my 19 inch! :D

My friend on the opposite coast (in San Francisco) was in need of a 3D card for his old Dell to play WC3. I sent him emails about this deal and he went to the Concord store to get one. He called me from the store and said it rang up as $49.99. I told him to ask if they match their own website. He finally got to talk to the right person there, who after being told the situation said "No...I'm pretty sure that's $49.99." So my friend got him to check it online. The sales drone's response? "Wow. Okay, look, I can sell it to you for $29.99, but could you go grab me one too? Do you know how cheap that is?"

Nice.

Thanks for all the kind sentiments.... to be honest, seeing the affinity for the GeForce line around these parts, i was rather expecting this post to go over like a fart in church and was a bit hesitant to post it at first, i'm glad that quite a few seem to be able to make use of such a card for whatever purpose :)

Still rang up as 49.99 for me. I got the PCI version, 54 bucks with tax ain't too shabby for a nice 32mb 7200 radeon card. Well worth it for the TV-out and 2d image quality.

Some of you are still confusing the PCI 32MB 7200 Radeon (on sale for $49.99) with the one glenn1 posted - the 32mb PCI SDRAM Radeon (also on sale for $49.99, but ringing up as $29.99).

The 7200 - DDR SDRAM is a newer, nicer PCI card (also in a newer ATI package) but also $20.00 more expensive.
Nice find, glenn1 (I got one in Encinitas, CA for $29.99 - plenty left - to stick in my system I am selling). :)

There is no Radeon 7200 DDR PCI for the PC. DDR memory in these cards has no advantage on the 33MHz bus. There is one for the Mac because it has 66MHz, like PC AGP.

I suppose the 7000 (formerly VE) used DDR for PCI because by that time the memory was more cost effective or in the case of that core or dual monitor arrangement it actually helped.
